Life might be fun with sex and drugs and rock'n roll, at least for a time, but don't you have anything else to talk about than how drunk you have been and which kind of adventures you had with people of the other sex ?

This gets rather boring and also a bit annoying, not just for me, and I think it's as immature to pretend immaturity out of fun.

I actually log in and check this thread to see what's happening in people's life, like:
* Today my car broke down on my way to work...
* I attended the 100th latin dance festival and won 3rd price.....
* My lecture on statistics today was so boring that I fell asleep...

But given the last 20+ pages, I hardly ever log on anymore.

I have the feeling the gathering has a background role as well. It's true that it created a bond that extends beyond the fora, but I don't see the need to channel discussion away from perfectly allowed topics.

Well, I didn't say that it's not allowed to talk about girls and booze, but too much scares off a lot of people who aren't interested in that. The OT thread is meant to be a good place for everybody and it's my "job" to keep it in that state.

We are still far away from a situation in which the OTF was two years ago, but I'm not afraid of breaking an egg or two to make an omelette, see the CC temp ban. It's not my intent to suppress opinions, but don't turn it into a forum problem, please, else I will have to point at forum rule #10. Not every expression of a point of view is welcome here, but that shouldn't be a problem with a bit of common sense.
