The Rum Diary: 7/10.
Strange but interesting enough to watch and it's Johnny Depp after all.

Took Noodle Jr. to see "Chronicle" over the weekend. I didn't have real high expectations coming in, but it was a solid piece of story telling that finished with a pretty intense 45-minutes or so. I was impressed.

I was so bored I finally sat down and watched the Underworld Trilogy, which I'd give 7.5/10, I actually really enjoyed them all. Kate Beckinsale in tight leather with sexy little fangs did it for me. I have to say though, the vampires in Underworld are really weak compared to other films.
The Thirteenth Floor (1999)
Fun: 6.5-7/10
Overall: not sure how to score it on a one to ten level, but i would give it a B or B minus.
The movie opens up with an older man writing a note and it's sometime in the 1930s. he leaves a note for the bartender and then he... wakes up, if you will, in the present day. He's around a bunch of mega computers, he was lying down beneath some green rays of light (which, btw, the color green plays thru out the movie. Like, you see it in the city, prop lights, hues and tones. I think green was a theme for this movie so yeah). Well, he goes to a bar where he ends up being killed and you don't know who did it. In comes the main character, his employee, and he's in shock, wondering who would kill his boss/friend, etc. etc. Well, the big project the old man, the main char, and one other guy, like, the only programmer you see in the movie (the only "big" name in here that i instantly recognized is Vincent D'Onfrio (spelling??) and he's one of the programmers) were working on is this big simulated world that they created. Everything from the places and people to the food feels real and you experience it, but it's "bits and bytes of information." And then there's this big twist and you're mind kinda gets warped...
Aside from some parts of the script being cheesy and just... lame and the acting wasn't the best, it's not a terrible film, but not the best. It has an interesting concept that I'm sure if I could relate it to a movie in the present day it would spoil it. Possibly. But interesting concept. I just wish it had been better written out and better acting. If you can get past that, it might be enjoyable for you.
EDIT: I love the Underworld Trilogy. I haven't seen the 4th one and I kinda really don't wanna see it. If i do, i'll just go to Redbox or whatever. But the first three... awesome! I liked the second one the least, but still. Good soundtracks too. I enjoy them a lot.It also helped me get more into Puscifer so.... wee! ^_^
