you lost me thereReconsidering Star Wars IV in the light of I-III
but... I continued to read diligently.... until the very next line
NO THANK YOUIf we accept all the Star Wars films as the same canon, then a lot that happens in the original films has to be reinterpreted in the light of the prequels.
Basically R2D2 and Chewy are running the whole show.
The prequils never actually happened.
OR
When Phanotm Menace opened with "...in a galaxy far, far away" it was refering to ANOTHER galaxy different than the galaxy where the original story took place. The universe is big enough for the names to be coincidentally matched up with the names from the old movies. So the old movies and the prequils are each happening in separate galaxies. They really have no connection at all.

For some reason I thought this movie would be good ,maybe because it seemed like it was a challenging theme that only good writers would tackle.Anyway it exceded my expectations not only that but it wasn't everything I expected, yes the begining was but later things changed when new costumed characters entered the scene in a visceral hyper violent manner.
my roommate ruined that movie for me. -.-
The Wall E thing is kind of cute, but eh. I did wonder what the rest of the world looked like, and why that trashland hadn't been colonized by survivors from other parts of the world. The implication in the film is that the earth suffered a complete ecological breakdown, to the point that nothing green would grow. The trash is just a visual signifier of the larger biological catastrophe. And if there were indeed something in the atmosphere (maybe a global winter type cloud cover) it could indeed have ended virtually all terrestrial life on earth.
As for the Star wars thing, I started reading that with great trepidation, since like everyone else who has posted, I thought the 3 prequels all sucked. However, it's actually a pretty good argument. The guy's not saying the 3 prequels were actually any good, he's just taking the plot and story (I use those terms used with some reticence, given Lucas' ineptitude) they presented, and then using some creativity to bridge them to the events in the 4th film, which took place around 20 years later. Just like Diablo 3! Oh NOES!!11!!1!!
That said, I don't think anything of his analysis is actually in the source material. Lucas showed his "ability" to create plot and story in the prequels, and the creativity and imagination shown in this little essay is 10x better than anything in episode 1-3.
So um... no. But a good read.
On the Episode 1 topic, I highly, highly recommend the Red Letter Media reviews. Yes, it's an hour long video review of episode 1. It's worth watching, even if you do it in parts. Enormously entertaining and clever, and very funny. Plus you'll finally get those "What's wrong with your FAAAAACE????" meme jokes you've seen here and there for the past couple of years.
The critical test presented near the end of part one is actually fairly brilliant for almost any fictional property. Describe the main characters, to someone who knows nothing about the work, without saying what their jobs are, or what they look like. If you've never seen the review, try it now. For any character as presented in episode 1-3. Good luck with that.
Red Eye (2005)
Rating: 3/10
Fun: 6/10
A woman sits next to a strange man on her flight home only to discover he is part of an assassination plot and her father is in danger.
There isnt much to say about this. The acting is god awful. The action is stupid. The suspense is dumb. And literally you will find yourself asking simple questions throughout the movie about why instead of making logical decisions, the director made really stupid choices. There was nothing good about this.
YES!!!!! Flux, i LOVE those reviews!! i forget how i found them (i want to say one of my friends, i can't remember who) turned me on to them and Mara and i watched all of them and laughed. they are great. ^_^
Red Eye was really bad. I actually lol'ed when he got the pen in the throat.
