Movie Review thread.

oh wow. i thought they did a fine job leaving out bombadil his little acid trip of a couple chapters added nothing to the book and was fine being left out of the movie. i remember commenting on it to a friend of mine as we were leaving the theatre and he agreed, taken out because it was unimportant.

potter book --> movie is alright, but nothing spectacular. like most book to movie adaptations i think they'd be better served becoming a mini series instead of just one shot movies.

That is totally my point about Bombadil. It may have not been adding something to the book (except for some pages). But to me it gave some grip on the timeline handled in that world. Well this differs for everyone ofcourse. But its like all movie adaptations, it has to stay exiting for the full 2 hours or so. That's why they're adaptations and cannot comply to everyones wishes.

That's why I totally agree on the miniserie part. But few people are willing to spend millions of dollars on something that really must generate money when released on DVD or rights bought to broadcast. Ofcourse this has been succesful couple of times i.e. Band of Brothers.

One Missed Call

I tried..multiple times to like this movie. Let it be known that this is the first Miike movie I could not stand. It was like Ringu meets Ju-On. Miike has more imagination than that.

Oldboy

I have to watch this again. Thinking back on it, I can't think of one single thing I did not like about it. Basically it is about a man who is imprisoned for reasons he does not know. For 15 years, he was kept in a small room allowing his feelings of revenge to fester. The cinematography is awesome.

I am seriously thinking of buying the collector's edition.

Transformers

Fun 10/10
Movie 8/10

If you go in expecting it to be an action packed cgi fest for the eyes, then you will not be disappointed. Probably the most fun I've had at the theaters since 300 came out. I'm a big Transformers fan, so I wasn't happy with all the changes Michael Bay did, but I came out of the movie totally satisfied. Great fun, cheesy, but not too cheesy, and amazing, amazing visuals.

As a family, we are watching Super Size Me.

I find myself disturbed that my daughter loves McDonalds..not the food, but Playland. She saw McDonald's and instantly thought Playland. Hmm..that better way to attract the next generation of obesity.

No more fast food for either kiddie. No fries, no burgers, no Happy Meals. They can get used to eating carrots with fat-free ranch dip. They will get salads (they get that now), broiled chicken and grilled beef.

The whole movie was so disturbing. I will go to yard sales and pick up Happy Meal toys and make up my own "Happy Meal" and we can go to the park.

Super Size Me was incredibly over the top. The vomiting and everything was flat-out ridiculous.

Eating McDonald's primarily for a month is bad for you? No ****, Spurlock.

Transformers 8/10
The movie was definitely fun to watch. The beginning was a bit slow to pick up. But once the auto bots were introduced the action really started. All the other elements (cgi, humor, and dialogue) were pretty good too.

Live Free or Die Hard - 8/10
Another action packed movie for this summer. Bruce Willis really does make this movie go. His lines and scenes are just spectacular.. going from his action scenes to his hilarious remarks. The only thing is that any computer person would know that what they did in the movie was a bit unrealistic and you kinda wonder in the end how does Bruce Willis go through the entire movie without any rest or medical treatment through the injuries he sustains.
