eh, I was just being confrontational, but now I'm just thinking I'll pass out for a few hours
he expects them to be mentioned, even if he wouldn't mention them, people usually do, so he would be surprised to see them omitted
he's basically a lurker on the issue, he has no opinion here, but he's dondrei, he posts anyways, but he was on my side so it's ok I guess
Rocky Balboa
Synopsis - A really really old former champ steps back into the ring as a means of confronting the past and the memories that haunt him.
Review - It was fun, it was Rocky, the good kind. Adrian is dead, so the movie is that much better for not having Talia Shire in it (although we still see her a ton, atleast she isn't talking or anything). As with prior movies, the course of Rocky's career confronts him with different problems-this time retirement and the loss of his wife and uneasy relationship with his adult son - and as with the other films in the series, those problems are resolved far too easily, but at this point we know what we're getting, so why complain? The boxing action is pretty much the same silly stuff we're used to where Stallone gets into the ring with a real athlete and looks outclassed yet he gets by on heart as always. The movie is sort of a rehash, but it's a chance to celebrate and relive the fun of the old movies, and so any fun loving audience will let the little things go as soon as they hear the Bill Conti score.
8/10
Weren't the last three movies rehashes? I expect nothing but awfulness of Rocky Balboa, but I'm way behind on my Rockys anyway.
I didn't say they were good or bad, just that they're the movies everyone brings up when stoner films are mentioned, so I expected it to be mentioned here.
Oh, Ash already said it.
it's precisely what you'd expect, and the movies were rehashes except that he has some different problem each time
he's a bum who doesn't believe in himself, he can't pay the rent and his wife is pressuring him not to fight, he's washed up, he's in a lousy movie, he's in a movie so lousy I won't watch it, he's old
Im heading out to see "Shooter" soon, not sure if it looks good or not, but its from the guy who did Training Day, and i loved that movie.
Did you see Harsh Times?
Shooter (2007)
Rating: 7/10
Fun: 5/10
An ex-marine sniper who has been retired for 3 years is brought out of retirement by the US government to do one last mission. There is supposedly an assassination attempt being planned against the president of the US, but really unsure of the details of where its being fired from or who is firing. A sniper shot breaks out toward the president, nobody is sure who it is, and the marine is blamed for the assassination. One FBI agent who fights to learn the truth helps defend the marine's name.
Pretty good movie actually, but i was expecting something much different. The trailer made it seem like its just a giant chase movie with lots of stuff blowing up left and right, but in all reality, it was mainly focused on the story and not much action overall. It was great though, a very good rental, but im not sure about buying it or going out to the movies just for this. Luckily for me, seeing it at theaters is only $2 more expensive than renting it.
It was good, though i need to see it again.
