    Sooo to make things clear:
    "-XX% def" is just used in chance-to-hit calculations
    and you don't have to delifer a hit on the target in order for this property to kick in?

    I think you are confusing the -XX% defense (example being an eth rune) with the -XX To Monster Defense Per Hit (as seen on the Woestave Halbred Unique).

    -XX% is applied consistantly and is used only in the chance to hit calculations.

    -XX To monster Defense per Hit requires your attack to connect in order for it to take affect.
