    Pgems as a low currency?

    So i have come back from a break from d2 and i hear that if you have so many pgems that you can get certain items like 40 for an um or so and things like that. Can anyone tell me why they became worth this? And how many would be worth soj about?

    dude ud n a lot for a soj, but on europe ladder (my residence) its 30 pgs for pul... how many puls for a soj?
    there used for rerolling item stats mostly charms,
    but most ppl including me just trade in them... they're fairly stable currency, mostly its a safe bet that stuff in pgs is cheaper here then online (but u do always hear stories)

    6 Perfect Skulls + 1 Rare Item = 1 Random Low Quality Rare Item of the same type
    You can use this formula to get another chance at a Rare Item of the same type. ilvl = int(.4 * clvl) + int(.4 * ilvl) Player level matters. This formula will not work on items larger than 3x2.

    3 Perfect Gems (of any type) + 1 Magic Item = 1 New Random Magic Item of the Same Type
    You can use this formula to get another chance at a Magic Item of the same type. The ilvl = ilvl. This means to use 100% of the ilvl of the input item. It's important to note the difference between "the ilvl is set to a fixed number" like what happens in some recipes and "the ilvl of the output is exactly the same as the ilvl of the input" as is the case here. So if you're cubing for +skills Grand Charms, for example, you want to use Charms starting from late Nightmare, not ones that dropped in the Normal Blood Moor. You can use this formula (with an Amulet) to create a +2 Skills Amulet. And you cannot Gamble one before Character Level 84. Be warned however, that the chances of getting that on an Amulet might be very low (considering everything is available) and it might take a lot of tries. Rare Items cannot be used with this formula to create new Rare Items. You can also use this on Charms and Jewels.

    Using one of the two formulas is known as "rolling", and is the new thing. People will sit around with one Grand Charm and a mule full of gems and roll it compulsively until they get one with a +skill tab on it. The same can be done with Jewels or Small Charms to great results. The 6-skull recipe is used on Diadems for a similar reason.

    PGems are very popular because they can be used to reroll magical items (most namely grand charms), and are also used for various crafting recipes.

    Pgems take value in Ladder.

    In nonladder, only perfect amethyst / rubys hold any value. Other than them, it = gold to repair griefz after 10 min. of dueling.

    You know Dennis, people DO reroll GCs in Nonladder, so those non-crafting PGems still have a use.

    I payed soj 4 20 P saphs and Amy's.. Psaphs = Kockback glovees
    Pamy's = FCR Amulets.

    I made a +2 to java skills, 20% IAS, Kockback, res, and dex. glove my 3rd try. Yet, noone ever crafts with gloves anymore.

    Even though I don't play on non-ladder, I seriously doubt that. As pgems get constantly removed from play by using them to reroll GCs, they are genarally a stable currency. What's becoming worth less and less on NL are uniques because they get more and more, even the rare ones, and they don't disappear like pgems, except when people let their characters expire.

    Pgems have always been a stable currency, and I agree with what krischan said.

    I second that. Same thing for the crafting runes as a stable currency (Amn, Sol, Thul, etc...) rop:
