Upgrading Item Question

I'm new to the ladder, so this upgrading items "thing" with let's say lem+ko+P diamond (For the exceptional unique armor) is pretty new to me. My question is in such regular items, namely socketed ones, can I upgrade those too? For instance I found a 5OS Naga and a Superior 5OS Naga and I'm trying to make myself a Grief Zerker. Is there any recipe to upgrade my open socket Naga to the Berserker class? Thanks in advance, RXJ
