training? as far as i'm aware the army uses games for recruitment, but not training. you don't learn to pull a trigger by clicking a mouse.

Flight simulators and combat simulators are not even close. Flight simulators are actually able to relatively accurately reproduce the action of flying a plane since all that is fake is the outside, you are performing the same physical actions.
But trust me, just because you played BF2 does not mean you are ready to go out onto a battlefield. Imagine an army of nerds.
Personally, I think it is a good thing that they are being trained by this terrible tool.
