Question on using HC items in SC...

OK --> As some of you may know, I played in a HC tourney and I intermingled those items in with my main stash (the ones I muled OFF).

My question is this --> Can you use HC items on current SC Chars?

If not, I'm going to have to start ALL over --> YET AGAIN!!!

Yes you can, but then you can no longer refer to them as HC. You can say "Found as HC, but used SC". Some purists feel that since you can't do this on Battle.net you shouldn't do it in SC either, but I find that really silly. We could dupe runes up to Zods if we used the logic "if and only if you can do it on battle.net".

There is no in game difference between an item found HC and one found SC. The only difference is in how this forum treats them.

The in game difference is that an item is found either in softcore or hardcore. There is no way for hardcore and softcore characters to interact in game. This is the case for Diablo period, i don't see the relevance of the battle.net comment.

I personally view it as abuse of ATMA. It does of course come back to "what you do on your own computer... etc." and how you like to play the game. Can you do it? yes. Should you do it? that's entirely up to you :smiley:

The poster already indicated that he (she?) has intermingled the items in a stash. There's absolutely no way anyone could tell them apart at this point. I keep my HC stuff seperate from my SC stuff so I can keep track of which is what... and that's a pretty well accepted norm here. But once you've taken an item out of the game, into ATMA, there is absolutely no difference in the item itself other than the subjective difference we assign on this forum.

It's not a flaw of ATMA, becuase there's no way ATMA could possibly label an item as HC or SC without making the item unreadable by the game. It only becomes abuse when someone still calls items HC items if they have used them in SC. It's one of our greyest of grey areas, so you're going to get any number of opinions on it.

Full Story --> I entered the Tournament of the Ring, used a HC Char... Well, I was muling off Greens and Golds that I found, and not realizing it, I was putting them in my main stash of uniques...

Oh well... General consensus is Start over???

From what i understand nearly everyone is ok with hc items to sc but most people have problems with sc items to hc.

imo you are fine , ofc if you ever come to trade just mention that you have some items found in hc and then they items have been used on sc scharacters and you should be ok.

Most of the 'purists' don't trade/MP.
I don't think what you've done will limit your trading/MPing options.

Edit: I think HC-->SC is fine as long as it's about items that have been muled off to ATMA. I think that rescuing items from a dead HC character is a bigger sin.
SC-->HC is a big no-no to me.

Yeah, I lost decent items on my HC char --> But that's why Pindle is around --> To find BETTER items...

I've already deleted my HC char (I have no HC playable chars ATM)

If I ever make a new HC char, I will make a separate stash --> ONLY HC items...

I won't take SC items into HC --> I'll start from scratch... and make my HC stash grow

Will state that some HC items I own have been used by SC chars... Because they have...
