OT threads are dangerous because people get into arguments and start name calling and questioning other's mental state. Just be careful what you write. Make sure no one can take what you're writing the wrong way. That is how arguments start and people get banned for that.

There are good opinions and ideas on this thread. I would enjoy having constructive conversations on the topics people have brought up. All I am asking is can we turn these arguments filled with vague abstractions into conversations?
Many words of wisdom...
Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

A lot of the media described Tec 9's and other weapons incorrectly, and most anyone who knew what they were talking about thought they were idiots and got their news from other sources. I know you're smarter than most people, and you should know a bit more about guns, as they're all over the world. With a war breaking out in the Middle East, perhaps owning a gun wouldn't be such a terrible idea when two religious extremist groups are trying to get the rest of the world involved.Originally Posted by Kiwi Legend
My girls won the game last night. There was quite the controversy on an umpire's judgement call. But we won and we play today for the tournament championship. We will either have first or second place. These kids have a lot of heart and I think they can win. But we do not know the other team at all. We have no idea what we'll be facing. So we'll see. Wish us luck. I'll be back tonight with all the news.

Other then being called an Idiot by zod (pretty much). I think people with completely different views on very powerful raw topics have kept it cool well enough. Considering were just a bunch of D2 nerds...heheOriginally Posted by Dacar92
I just can't see how more guns in the hands of the general public can possibly make things safer.Originally Posted by Zodijackyl

I just came back from lunch with my girlfriend, and there were a few interesting things that happened on the way back home. We went into some restaurant and just happened to catch the ending of a fistfight between two guys that was broken up by the police over the World Cup game between France and Italy. There was too much commotion going on in there, so we decided on eating at the Taco Bell that was a little farther down the road. After we finished, I drove her back to her house, and amazingly, we see the same two guys from the restaurant duking it out on the side of the road. The traffic was slow since most people were watching the fight, and I didn't get to watch much of it, but I did turn my head in time to see the taller of the two men falling flat on the ground after a mean uppercut.
And I thought people didn't care much about soccer here in the US, but apparently, I stand corrected. :shocked:

Actually, I agree with you to a certain extent. So don't take this the wrong way. But I would go for a little more than a 22. Hunting rifles are much more powerful than a 22. But I don't think you need a Tec 9 for home defense or to hunt.

22 is a very small step above a decent pellet gun. I dont mind the idea of shooting some cans off a farmers fence. Also a 22 isnt going to kill anyone.Originally Posted by Kevin William Cox

Ill tell you why it scares me having any average joe able to bare these types of arms, THERE ARE SO MANY NUT JOBS IN OUR SOCIETY. Atleast if a guy pulls a knife you can run. Anyone ever seen the movie "Fallen"?
