I'm building my first light trapper (PvM) and need a little help with the gear. Here is what I have:
Helm: Shako (Um'ed)
Belt: Arachnid Mesh
Claws: Both +2 Sin Skills with 2 shaels each (haven't found +3 trap claws yet)
Gloves: Frostburns (for the mana boost)
Boots: Silkweave (for the mana boost)
Ring: Raven Frost
Cta and spirit on switch
I need help with my armor, What should I use Enigma or COH (for the resists)? If Enigma, How do I deal with my resists in hell?
Also, What gear should I replace any of my current gear with to make it better? (Please don't suggest soj's I can get them but won't because they are duped as often as hr's so if I can't find them myself I'll just do without.)
Also this is not an mf sin, I have a hammerdin for that, this is a have fun just to do something different sin.

I met a guy in a baal run lastnight who told me what I was doing wrong. He told me to ditch the claws and go with a Hoto and Spirit Shield and to make a Treachery armor. I didn't get a chance to chat with him long so I still need help with gloves, boots and what rings to wear, please let me know what I should wear here, I have no idea whether or not what I have now is the best for a trapper sin.

Sorry to keep posting in this without replies but I keep coming up with new questions after the time allowed to edit this post, hopefully one of you can answer.
If I go with the set-up in the second post a new problems comes up and that is blocking. Without two claws and block skill, do I need to add dexterity to my sin to maintain at least a 50% block? or is blocking even needed with a trapper?

Personally I wouldn't go for max block, putting the points into vitality instead.

I wasn't asking about max block, though maybe a spirit monarch shield only has 50% or so block I don't know. Anyways, A trapper doesn't need blocking then?
Also, What about gloves, boots and rings? I really need to know what to use and none of the guides or stickies give a good idea of what gear is needed for a trapper.

Ah yeah, by max block I really meant I personally wouldn't put any points into dex. It's a bit of a personal thing though, but I don't feel you really need much blocking for pvm as a trapsin, you shouldn't be getting hit too much anyway. As for boots, and gloves, I use bloodfists and aldurs boots (nice life, fire res, and 40frw).

For rings...well let's think about it. Trappers are purely skill based builds. In PvP, a little FCR helps, but for PvM, only the skills and the resists matter, along with the ever important +skills. For this reason, perhaps BK rings or SoJ's would be a good bet for you. However, the Ravenfrost is a good idea, seeing as how being Frozen can really slow your trap laying speed. Keep it on, if you can't get CBF anywhere else.
Also, HotO + Spirit is a decent combination. It gives decent +skills, more than mediocre resists, and FCR and Mana to boot. It works fine for PvM. There is another option...dual claw. 2 +3 Trap claws will not only give you more skills, but it will give you, in essence, "60% resist all" and "60% block". Clawblock, a one point wonder, can block not only melee attacks, but also spells and magical attacks. So basically it's free 60% resist all, which is totally independant of dexterity. And of course, going for 2x +3 Trap claws with the innate mod of +3 Lightning Sentry...just think, that's +12 Lightning sentry just from the claws...

I have yet to run from a single damn thing - I've killed anything that's spawned.
Immune to lightning? Ok fine somewhat irritating but nbd - throw Fire Blast at it while the Merc and the Shadow hassle things until something dies. Then drop a death sentry and keep chucking Fire Blast for a few - watch the fun begin.
Immune to fire AND lightning? Hmm ok somewhat more annoying but still doable. Try to spread them out a bit if you can - if not ya get to just gut it out and hope for a kill from the Merc/Shadow so once again you can unlease Death Sentry. I also went ahead and expended a few extra points in order to get a point into the Blade Fury skill - so I can and do chuck those at dual immunes - sure it's not astonishing damage or hit rate, but with that rate of fire even a 20% hit rate can and will make a difference in kill speed for those all important first corpses to start the Death Sentry chain reaction.
This also gives you a way to convey "Prevent Monster Heal" from a distance onto those bosses that just seem to regen for you too fast to do any damage to. Blade Fury them with a PMH weapon for about 10 seconds - I'll guarantee you hit them in there somewhere. This is pretty mandatory as some bosses spawn with psychotic regen rates that you will never overcome otherwise. Recognizable by their full health bars after you've been chewing on them for 20 seconds.
You can use Mind Blast, Psychic Hammer, and Cloak of Shadows singley or in combination to keep the chosen target's little friend's busy as well 9/10 times in the above sort of "less than ideal" situations.
Throw all that together and you can defeat anything on the damn board - barring probably uber-diablo or something - gods know there. Anything remotely normal.
Trapsins are NOT helpless in the face of lightning immunity - far from it actually. Just need a little explotation of some of their versatility
P.S. If you have not gotten Fire Blast & Death Sentry taken care of as you've leveled up - well what's the matter with you? Anything truly single element is gonna cause doofy problems so don't do that.
General idea and execution due to the JRichard's fine Trapsin guide here:

Thanks, somehow I overlooked this trapper guide, I'll give it a try on my next build.
I do use Death Sentry but even a maxed Fire Blast is not very useful with just over 1k damage. I never thought about using Blade Fury, but I'll give it a try, I love that skill.
I just made a Fortitude in an eth cryptic axe for my merc, along with his Duress armor and Crown of Thieves he should be more helpful.
