Another Cowboys thread

Aside from Terrell Owens, the Cowboys have signed former Jets OT Jason Fabini, former Jags OLB Akin Ayodele(Ay-dell), and former Titans OLB Rocky Boiman. I am HIGHLY looking forward to the Cowboys upgraded D. The Cowboys are also shooting for Virginia Tech cornerback Jimmy Williams to play Strong Safety, since Roy Williams couldn't cover a guy in a wheelchair. I'll break down the position battles:

Right End- There are currently three defensive ends competing for this position. Former LSU Tiger Marcus Spears will be entering his second year as a Dallas Cowboy after getting a knee injury in the preseason, and he is most likely to be the opening game starter. 26-year-old Kenyon Coleman is entering his 5th season, and at 6' 5" 284 he has perfect 3-4 D size. 2nd year Cowboy Chris Canty is a monster at 6' 7" 279 pounds, and may be a big name player later in his career, but he just doesn't seem ready to be a starting NFL D-lineman.

Defensive Tackle- Not really much to debate here....Unless Jason Ferguson gets an injury in the preseason, he will no doubt be the starting Tackle.

Left End- Once again, this is pretty much a sure-fire spot for 8-year veteran Greg Ellis.

Linebackers- All Linebacker spots are WIDE open, with Rocky Boiman, Akin Ayodele, Bradie James, Demarcus Ware, Kevin Burnett, and Al Singleton. This set of LBs is absolutely ridiculous.

Cornerbacks- Nothing here has changed this season with Aaron Glenn, Anthony Henry, and Terence Newman.

Strong Safety- Unless they draft Jimmy Williams, the Cowboys will be stuck with another season of Roy Williams playing SS. Ugh.....

Free Safety- If they draft J-Will, Roy Williams will be able to once again make big impacts on the game, and not have to worry near as much about covering Receivers and/or Tight Ends. If not, Keith Davis will play FS.

What about Dat Nguyen at LB? Is he still there?

Too bad they cut Larry Allen too. Though he might re-sign. Hes a beast.

I still think about 8-10 games into the season Owens is gonna start being a baby again and disrupt everything that the Cowboys could have.

Still, the Cowboys playoff chances look good if not a lock.

Dat retired, it'll be sad, he was an integral part of the Cowboys All-Big XII defense. They need to draft Aaron Harris, he is in the mold of Dat. Small and fast.

And why would Roy Williams be moving to FS if he has trouble covering people? Strong Safety lets him play close to the line where he can make plays. I wish Mike Huff would fall far enough, or the C-Boys trade up and get him. Covers like a DB, hits like a safety. Perfect complement to Roy.

My point is, Williams was without another Safety on the team, so he had to cover the majority of receivers. I do not want that happening again.....

Cowboys signed Mike Vanderjagt to a 3-year contract today. Looks like they finally got a decent kicker.
