Ok... So ive built a 1point smiter from the Paladin Guide.
Grief PB, Gloom Armor, Guilmines Helm, Goblin Toe Boots, Draculs, Credendrum Belt, Ravenfrost, Dwarfstar, Amulet.... undecided - either an 18Dex, 18All resist amulet or a +3paladin combat skills, Anni with +19 Resist. Prebuff with fade from the assassin armor.
My main question is deciding which shield to use...
Currently I have an Alma Negra (+1) that I can socket with a PDiamond or PTopaz or a 4Socket with +38All Res that I can put 4Pdiamonds in.
Firstly - how much reduction does mephs conviction aura give? I've seen varying reports from -100 to -175.... :S I'm going to be stacking resists, but need to know how much to stack by to plan my charms and decide on which shield to use.
Secondly - Do I only have to REALLY worry about lightning resistance? or should I make sure to seriously stack the others too. (Have dwarf and ravenfrost to help with Fire and Cold...).
This is how I did it-
T-god's and blackhorn's for Meph. I had 28 light res and +40 absorb and I crushed him easily. I think it's supposed to be level 20 conviction.
I put on rising sun (the ammy) and tanked baal and diablo at the same time, getting completely healed very often.
I think Mephs conviction lowers your resistances by 125. With 70-100 resistances in hell and with 1point salvation on Meph won't give you any trouble, provided that you cast lifetap on him immediately. Don't rely on Dracs with Meph, he'll kill you easily in three seconds without LT. Diablo and Baal will take significantly longer to kill you so the LT from Dracs usually kicks in before they do any serious damage.Originally Posted by Stevebo
About the resistances, not sure what kinds of damage they do, but Lightning is probably the most important one, might want to get some Fire resist too if you're pumping them with charms.
It is indeed 125%. I just run Salvation until Meph dies; your damage is mostly based on Crushing Blow anyway, so the lost damage from Fanat doesn't matter much.
Meph has a couple cold attacks that can hurt, but I wouldn't worry about them too much.
What got me once was actually the Venom Lords (ran out of juvs). They can really gang up on you during the fight with Diablo, and if you get bone prisoned out of range you're pretty much toast unless you can leech off nearby monsters while hacking your way out. I'd recommend getting decent fire resist.
