Countess Rune Drops

I had heard that the top special rune drop for the Countess is Ist, but her "normal monster" drop can be up to Vex. . .

In any event, I just killed the Countess and had her drop a Jah rune. This sort of surprised me, since I thought this was impossible. . . which leads me to the question -- what are the top runes the Countess can drop and the relative chances of each? Or maybe a nearby minion dropped the Jah, but I would have presumed them to be a lower level than the Countess herself. . .

The Jah would have dropped from the creatures around her, like the countess's minions since they can drop a Jah rune. The Countess herself can drop up to a Lo rune with her item drop, not high enough for that Jah rune.

Never got past Ko from Hell Countess -.-
But yes, non quest till Lo IIRC.
The quest drop has better odds to get you a decent rune ? (say, Pul/Um+)

Countess doesn't have a quest drop, like act bosses do. You don't have higher chance for good runes when you complete the quest.

Countess' drop consists of 2 parts: her special runedrop (up to Ist on hell difficulty), and normal item drop. The regular drop can also include runes (up to Lo), but the chances are low, pretty much the same as regular monsters.

The minions and regular monsters down there can drop higher runes than Countess

No, for runes up to Ist, Countess is still the top (aside from Forge) source since she always drops runes. Baal, on the other hand, may or may not decide to drop a rune for you.

Actually in rare cases the countess does not drop a rune

Not really. :rolleyes: Once I find the tower, it usually takes me less than a minute to tele to level 5.
