Kirby Puckett, former outfielder for the Minnesota Twins and Hall of Famer, died today after suffering a stroke on Sunday. He was 45.
This man was my childhood hero. He's the reason I'm a Minnesota Twins fan. He's the reason I love baseball. He's the reason I played nearly any sport that I've played throughout my life.
He will be missed, greatly.
You gave this young pup some great memories during the 1991 World Series.
"And we'll see you tomorrow night"
R.I.P.
Well, I guess we were on the same wavelength there, Croup.
I loved Kirbey Puckett. He, along with Mookie Wilson, possessed one of the greatest baseball names of all time.
He will be missed.
Touch 'em all Kirby Puckett!!
I cannot believe he's gone.
Oh no, I heard about his stroke yesterday, just got home from work and this is the first news of it I've seen.
Classy guy, great ballplayer, a bit before I got into watching the game though.
Rest in peace, Kirb
I can't believe it either...45? He was a spring chicken!
He was one of my childhood heroes as well.
Even though he played a major part in preventing my '91 Braves from winning the World Series he was a hell of a baseball player and hell of a role model. I heart goes out to the Minnesota community.
Thanks Kirby Puckett for showing millions of people how to play the game of baseball. He was a great ball player and did it with all the class in the world. I can still remember that jumping catch in center during the '87 WS. I also loved the way he never ever gave up on any play. May God bless you and your family.
-El Malo
One of the top 3 center fielders of all time. He was quite the awesome.
