This is incredible!!
Linky 1 (Google video)
Linky 2: GameSpy preview.
Grr pIER
I was this close to making a thread about this.
Why must you steal my thunder?
Anyway, I my feelings are more mixed after seeing the video. I know he's not playing a complete version, but it looks a bit too much like "Make a pretty creature, put in a pretty city, and design pretty planets" simulator.
And how much freaking computing power is it going to take to run all of those creatures in all of those cities on all of those planets in all of those solar systems?
I'm about 6 minutes into the video, and this is insane. In a good way.
Be back later with more...
That's what I was wondering.Originally Posted by Merick
And yeah, it has the 'make a pretty creature' aspect to it, but I've never seen that level of customization for any one aspect of a game, much less for all the many different things you can do, make creatures, buildings, vehicles, planets...
For those who haven't seen it yet, there's no easy way to describe it, you just have to watch the video.
I liked most of what I saw... but I'm not sure I could warm up to the whole idea of players being able to blow up each other's planets. I think that there are simply too many jerk players out there who will blow up your planet and then spam "leet" speak.

Kaysaar- It's not an MMO. What I understood was it's a single player game where you can upload your universe (or planets, solar systems, whatever) for other people to download. If someone download your planets then they are added to that person's universe, for them to do with whatever they what.
If you read the gamespy article it says, that by a certain way of making algorithms, it is actually quite fast and manageble.Originally Posted by Merick

I hope you're right, because playing like that would be great.Originally Posted by Merick
But it's asynchronous multiplayer. There will be no spamming of insults.Originally Posted by Kaysaar
