peter durfee - baseball umpire?

I'm watching China v. Korea on ESPN, and I swear the announcer just said Peter Durfee was the homeplate umpire.

And something clicked. But then I don't really know anything about Durf. Other than he lives, or used to live back when I read the forums, in Japan and maybe he got some gig with baseball. I never understood what made Durf a phenomenon, really, other than his posts were funny in their own ways.. ah anyway.

...of course, it was actually Durf's brother, so I guess it's not all that coincidental.
