Been gone for soooo long, what's new?

Hey all!

Used to frequent these forums and Hardcore West (*gar_1976, gogopally) for the longest time, up to 9/04 or so.

Decided to pop back on the blizzard web page to see if D3 was ever going to come out, and noticed a new patch came out for D2. Which got me wondering -

Anything worthwhile pop up that I should come back for? I take it all the scammers, hackers, maphack, etc. still goes on. But what about the game itself?

Welcome back. Blizzard finally cracked down on MapHack around the release of v1.11, banning thousands of accounts and killing thousands of cd keys in the process.

What's new? The Pandemonium Event/Ubers/Torches (just do a search for Pandemonium Event or Uber Trist), New runewords (some okay, some garbage), the TPPK hack is as active as ever. I suggest playing softcore for a bit to get used to it before going HC. I think there's more hardcore PKing going on, legit and otherwise. Enter pubby games at your own risk, and stay away from the town gate. 8^P

Maphack was gone for a little while but is already back in full force along with botting, TPPK, and town kill (not a hack).

The Pandemonium Event involves six uberfied bosses (Baal, Diablo, Meph, Izual, Duriel, and an Andariel look-alike named Lilith). The rewards is a large charm with bonuses like an Annihilus charm only it has +3 to all skills for a specific character class instead of the plain +1 all skills. Instead of a bonus to exp it has ctc Diablo's Hellfire, hence the name Hellfire Torch charm.

They fixed the synergy bug where charges of an item would act as a synergy. This brought Bonemancers back down to earth and made builds like FC/Rabies Druids even less viable.

The only patch 1.11 runewords you need to worry yourself about are 'Myth' (for BO Barbs), 'Peace' (for low-lvl Zons), and 'Treachery' (absolutely godly for the runes that go in it). There were some runewords added mid-1.10 also... not sure if you were around for that or not. Check out the Arreat Summit.

Welcome back to the forum. The patch has added some new areas in the game that you have to complete to get a "hellfire torch" large charm. The charm gives +3 to character skills, +10-20 stats and +10-20 all res.. You have to make some specialized characters to get the keys (you have to kill Nihlathak for Keys of Desctruction) and to kill the Ubers, but overall it's do-able once you get the characters built.

As for the hackers, dupers and lamers, they are always there. The biggest thing that seems to get dupped is high runes. TPPK is still there but they fixed the Marrowwalk bug so PnB Necros aren't the terror they once were. Druids, sorcs and zons still can kill you in fairly short order.

I moved to East at the start of S3. I don't think too many people play West anymore. If you decide to come back you should start on East. I can provide PAs, enchant and some gear if you want. Relativity is playing on East now also. Hope to see you in the game. My accts are *tman003 and *tman004.

Well, puttered around for a little bit yesterday. Forgot a few things, such as how to make it run in wondowed mode, how to whisper people, what the %^@%! is going on, etc.

Proud to say Brokeback_Sorc is going to PWN the USEast ladder. Watch out.

Actually, once I get a level 24ish pally, off to PK I go!
