Hi,

Well, I was trawling through this forum looking for a similar event and I found one, posted on 8.11.05 by dzweig. The poster has the same line #422 error as I have. Unfortunately, there wasn't an explanation for it apart from 'restart and continue playing until the next time it happens'.

I have never played an assassin into Hell difficulty until now, with my Phoenix Striker. Prior to that, I have been a player of Sorcs and Necros and have never experienced this problem with them. But with my assassin, I have encountered this game crash four times in the past 48 hours! This is what I get:

Diablo II Error
Halt
Location : , line #422
Expression : Unrecoverable internal error 02292ce3

I see this error when I minimise to the Windows desktop. Before that, the game freezes, and I am unable to do anything, including moving my mouse pointer.

The first time was a battle with NM Ancients when things were beginning to heat up. The second time was in the Halls of the Dead with lots of monsters. The third time was in the Halls of the Dead when I was raining down meteors on a Mummy sarcophagus. The fourth time was in the Halls of the Dead when I was raining down meteors on a unique monster.

The only constant in all of this is lots of monsters, lots of animations from meteor, burning pyres, lightning novas etc. But then, for these four occasions, there have been many, many other occasions where there have been lots of animations, monsters and skill charges where there has not been a game crash.

And this never happens with my sorcs or necros, even though my necro has 15 skellies, 15 magi, 17 revives, 1 golem, 1 merc, and plastered the screen with gore from CE.

Has anyone encoutered this problem with their assassins before and, hopefully, have a suggestion and/or solution. I'm really not keen on uninstalling/re-installing and re-formatting my hard drive. Oh, and I regularly perform scan disk, de-frag and virus scan.

Please tell me that my .d2s file is NOT corrupted and that I can continue to play my assassin and not have to re-make her.

Thanks.
