Infinity setup on merc and ias?

Ok, so I have been thinking about an ethereal cryptic axe infinity setup on a mercenary for a lightning sorcerer. Let's say these are the two choices.

Constants - Ethereal cryptic axe with infinity runeword and ethereal archon plate with fortitude runeword.

Setup 1 - Vampire gaze helm socketed with a 15IAS jewel. I think this setup gives the mercenary 3.1 attacks per second, life leach, damage reduction and magic reduction at the cost of less defense than setup two.

Setup 2 - Andarial's Visage socketed with a 15IAS/25% fire resist jewel to offset the negative 30% on the helm. I think the mercenary receives 3.5 attacks per second, a bit less life leach and more ac than setup one.

Can anyone comment on how these might work in the game and if one works better than the other? I don't know the cost of the jewels. Would your opinion change if the IAS jewels are not present?

A 15% IAS jewel is pretty cheap, but 15IAS/25FR is going to be difficult to find and can be rather expensive. I would go with more life leech myself, it will keep him alive longer than a little bit more defense. The vamp gaze looks like it will be cheaper and more effective. However, either setup will give you a nice strong merc that'll survive through most things you throw at him.
