Lately it has happened more and more that people correct other people's grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes. I usually don't have a problem with that and even find it funny from time to time. I do however think that we should remember that there are a lot of people on this forum who's motherlanguage isn't english. You also don't need a college decree to post on this forum, so you can't expect everyone to type without mistakes.
I find it rather annoying and rude when someone makes a thread and the only responses he/she gets is that he should learn english or should try using proper punctuation. I think you can also try to look past that and just respond to what someone is trying to say.
Just some thoughts I had...

That's exactly what I mean. In my language you don't use a comma before "and". The only thing you do now is correcting some mistake instead of responding to what I'm trying to say.Originally Posted by masterazn
Not that I mind you correct it, because you're probably only joking, but it does prove my point and I think there are people who don't like it.
If this is in response to the infamous swirlyrobe, then I can't say we share the same opinion. My response was just to make that ironic comment but apparently you are quite serious. I get your point, there's no need to fuss over it but this is very OTF--meaning we've always poked at each other's linguistic technicalities.
But please, diz iz not hwo englih is ssuposd 2 be writne.
I know it's very OTF and that's why in most cases it doesn't bother me. But I've seen it happen that no one responds to the original topic and only to the mistakes someone makes. I don't think that's fair.
I didn't make this thread because people were mean to Swirlyrobes. In my opinion his comments were already stupid and not making sense even if you weren't looking at his spelling.
SPAG and PEE all over the page, so we were taught in English classes.
I agree and disagree with M.A.
For one, this is a forum, people have almost all the time in the world to type what they wanna say. So why use 'internet speak' on a public page, its not like we're in a hurry, its not like the site is going anywhere anytime soon.
So yes, I agree - dat dis is nt da way 2 b riting on a forum. Save internet speak and your slangs for home and video games.
But correcting people's grammar and spelling is another thing. I agree, we have many types of members here, I see some 'helpful' spelling and grammatical posts, but there are, unfortunatley, the rude and obnoxious ones as well. Because we have many types of people, is it not only feasible to type out what your trying to say... logically?
Also, I vote we leave all the mistakes for dondrei to clean up. HAHAHAHAHA
For the record, sweetheart Kyubi, I'm either masterazn or MT--You can call me any endearing terms you wish to use though, because you're special like that (watch for StarStageGurl because I think she secretly still loves me).
Anyway, I still think we're all Grammar Nazis and that won't change any time soon.

But seriously english is a living changing language. In the perspective of history, "now" is an arbitrary time. Why not correct english to 16th century standards? And who is to say what english will be like in the 24th century.
I think the french are strangling their language by trying to preserve it.
edit: as far as I can tell swirlyrobe is a fake.
What the... Why MT? M.A. is just... so much easier...Originally Posted by masterazn
