do PDR and MDR (such as on string of ears, gladiators bane) figure into a pvp penalty in any way?
Or do they in actually just resist a straight amount of damage, pvp penalty not factored?
Also, for the MDR does it refer to only MAGIC dmg such as used by necromancers, or to all elemental damages?
PDR and MDR are factored in after the PvP penalty has already been calculated. So if you had an item with "Damage reduced by 10" on it, and someone did 1000 damage to you, the resulting damage would be 1000 * 17% - 10 = 160. Note that straight damage reduction is calculated before damage reduced by %, and resistances.
The property "Magic Damage Reduced by X" includes magical attacks (bone spears, blessed hammers, etc) as well as fire, cold and lightning attacks, but it does not affect poison.
Magic Resist % (like that found on the safety shield) only affects magical attacks though.
95% of the time I'm right, so why worry about the other 2%?

wow that's some sick info. that means a perfect MDR/PDR Gerke's with say a Sol rune in it, a shaftstop and a vampgaze, might make for a very nice setup. combine the shaft with a Sol rune, Sol in the Hat, you would have a severe level of -PDR. I have an amulet that has -20 PDR on it plus it also has +16 res all.Originally Posted by Orphan
hm. Could be decent in a pvp match against a physical damage guy.
I am already a believer in it MDR and PDR for PVM. but pvp has always been an idea.
