He wanted to use Spirit to help hit the 125 FCR breakpoint. As for HoZ being cheaper, I don't think so.

i too had a hoz, but gave it up for a 44 res gilded shield for spirit. i lost about 1k dmg, but it is made up from the faster cast.

-build around a hoz and still get 125% fcr (fcr circlet, fcr ammy)
-use spirit and use stronger items through other gear (shako)

Use Spirit. To hit 125%FCR with HoZ, not only you'll need a FCR amulet and Circlet, you'll also need a FCR Ring on top of it.

Don't forget the 55FHR on the spirit, and the huge mana bonus.

Spirit in a good base block shield (sacred targe) > HoZ, for both PvM and PvP. (@ 125FCR anyway)

If you can afford a good 20 fcr circlet/amy Hoz easily tops the godliest spirit. If you can't, spirit is a good choice.

I'd love to see how the statistic works, and how exactly you're planning to hit 86FHR with that setup.

A few notes:
Season 2 Hammerdin fixed it up after 1.11 came out... um if the charms look the same they are, in season 2 my friend duped. They are +1 pcombat with 41 life and the small charms are 15/20 life mana the gloves are wizzy gloves from nonladder rings are sojs perfect ap nigma parachs 582 def hoz pmaras a +2 20 fcr 18 res(base) 2 soc circ p hoto eth treks, 6/6/x cta, spirit shild on back hand, 1/20/20/5 anni (i had another one for baaling) torch is 20/18 pali. Stats are all added to vit, i had some weaker gear when my friend botted my hammerdin like a mp enigma and non upg hoz. couldnt use all my gear until like lvl 93. b4 torch i used some str scs
5k life with bo no sage and 17k dmg with concentration.
