The problem will come when the next suicide bomber strikes a mall in Israel, and Hez claims responsibility. Then you'll have a government sanctioned attack on Israel, which will piss them right off, and they'll invade the whole damn area rather than just a couple of airstrikes.

You'll probably have a problem convincing anyone that Hezbollah and Hamas are the same as well.

Well, it isn't like hooligans commonly turn around and become worthwhile contributors to society (thinking of "A Clockwork Orange"). To say nothing of the hard-core Marxists in the IRA - if they were capable of non-violent self-enrichment, they wouldn't have been robbing banks and taking handouts from the USSR.

The palestinians have elected someone who wants to use violence as a solution. So why don't we just let Israel off our leash and let them do what they want? Then everyone is happy. Israel gets to defend itself as it best sees fit, and the Palestinians will get all the violence they crave (and more, I'll wager).

I'm not condoning it, just saying there is a difference between criminals formerly in the IRA and IRA activities.

The Palestinians in my opinion have made a large mistake. By electing members of Hamas to run that country, they have opened up themselves to be destroyed.

How you ask? Oh come on, you know this one. Think it through. I'll break it down to the simplest forms possible.

*The Palestinians now have a democraticaly elected government.
*The Palestinians have chosen to be lead by a terrorist organization.
*Elections have consequences.
*The Palestinians have a long history of terrorism against their neighbors. Be it Israel or Jordan or Syria.

Except now when a Hamas terrorist attacks Israel, that is no longer terrorism, it's an act of war. Israel is going to have every legal and moral right to wage war when attacked by a Hamas terrorist. Seeing as how the Gaza Strip is a bit on the puny side and mere minutes from every Israeli air base, a war between the two wouldn't be in the Palestinian's best interest. Unfortunatly they have not shown themselves to be capable of living peacefully with anybody. They WILL attack Israel and they WILL be destroyed. It's sad, they could be a great people if only they chose to be.
