Indecision: Max block over Vita?

I have a great dilemma; I am building a meteorb sorc from scratch, so I am completely untwinked. But for the life of me I cannot decide on whether I should go with Max block or vita?

I was thinking of getting a Whitstan's Guard, socketing it with an Eld rune to hit 94% blocking, or with a pDiamond for the resists. This would mean that I would have to pump my dex to 151 resp. 162.

On the other hand I only an Amn rune and a Monarch shield short of Spirit rune word, which if I go with that would require me to pump my str to 156.

Since I woulld like to be able to do other runs than just Meph and Pindle, what would you guys recommend? Whitstan's? Spirit? Or both, Spirit on switch for teleporting, and Whitstans on main for blocking in crouded areas?

Any responses would be most welcome.

i'd go with max block, it's saved my butt many many times and helps with teleporting to meph and andy and get whistan's guard with eld rune for less dex and more vit.

I would surely go with max block. Use a whitsan's guard or SS.

FCR > block when teleing. Kill speed > block if you can survive decently without it. I would go for vita sorc, since you can kill faster.

Nope, softcore for me.
So I take it you would suggest going with Spirit Monarch?

There will be as many votes for blocking as there will be against it =) Just choose whatever you like.

However, don't pump both str for storm AND dex for whit. It will be a waste. Use only one of them.

It depends on whether you want to kill faster, but die a bit more often, or kill slower and die very rarely. The main reason that I use spirit is the 105 FCR for full Tal's, and the +2 skill is secondary.

If using Spirit, go vit - if using ss (=stormshield) go block. The whole point of Stormshield is to buy close to invulnerability for an extortionate sum of points spend in dex and str. The dr without full block isn't worth it alone.

The vit vs block thing really comes down to style - are you a careful player, hanging back a lot? Vita for you! Do you like to be closer to the action and take a few punches? Block for you! I also think that block makes a lot of sense for soloing as you can't rely on your merc to always do the smart thing, but that's more on the taste side :smiley:
