my merc is actII holy freeze
and going to use eth insight weapon(Have +Mana Aura)
so what helm n amour should he use is better
it should b sth +str ,bcoz insight require 200str
helm :Tal's mask or Andariel's Visage
amour: COH or Forti
or any other suggestions ?

can anyone give me some suggestions ?
i really dun know how to build a hammerdin merc

Try eth glitched stone, can easily get 4k def on stone. At lvl 90 with stone I think merc should be able to wear cv, and yea andys is good too for helping with str. Also a cheap alternative is guillames, but too bad it can't be eth. Pretty sure sets can't spawn eth, but if I am wrong someone correct me and good luck

Sets can't spawn as ethereal.



Helm: Vampire Gaze or Tal's Mask
Armour: 'Stone', Shaftstop, or Duriel's Shell.

Etherial Fort and Stones are both good ideas for high defense armors. For a helmet i usually like to go with a delerium for the crowd control spells it casts. aAthough with a hammerdin this is not really that neccisary, it can still come in handy in some situations.

Eth fortitude is a bad idea, as then u cannot use it on some of your chars and the trade value will be lower. Unless u are really sure u can afford to ALWAYS keep that eth forti, don't get one. A normal forti ap will do almost as good, and then u can use it on your char in the future.

simple solution to the andy helm problem, ral it.....
my merc has max resists even with andy helm on right now and it still has that open socket.
if u want shaft, go with eth 2.2k+ up'd shaft, mercs for hammerdins imo aren't suppose to deal much dmg at all as a hammerdin can do that and tank at same time easily. i just use insight for its aura to support the mana burners, etc. i personally wont prefer eth coh also.
eth stone is the best imo for armor for a hammerdin merc.

Duriel gives CBF, while SS gives 30% DR.

Even with fort, damage will suck because Insight does crap crap damage anyways.

On my ES/Light Sorc + Trapper + Mage all uses EInfinity on their Holy Freeze mercs, and because they're all eth CV (str req 200) I can't use Fort but I use eCoH for +20 str. Mediocre defense, but tons of Res, DR, and +2 All which is very useful for higher lvl HF.

Maybe wear ecoh?

yes DR is quite immportant
however my insight does 83xx dmg(i think quite high)
i have a eth COH (not yet finish no um and ber)
