Recent Lag Spikes

I started playing D2 HC US West about 1 month ago with a group of friends, for the most part the server lag was about the same as when I played in 1.09. I'm on a cable connection and my ping is ~50 average, but this past week myself along with ALL my friends in games have been getting lag spikes at the same exact time. It feels as if your connection is frozen (can't open town portal, etc) but instead everyone in the game is experiencing it at the same time. I know b.net servers are not the greatest and lag comes and goes from time to time even on broadband, but this past week has been extreme. Anyone else experiencing this and if so is it common or a new issue?

Its fairly common. been happening quite a bit lately

Probabyl dupers or mass botters for that time of day or mass games being made or somethign like that.
