GrizzleyAddams is my third guardian (1.11 rwm,rrm HC), following in the footsteps of a fishymancer and a hydra-orb sorc.
All skill points were assigned in the summoning tree, with 20 in both wolves, bear, HoW and the rest in ravens. He killed Baal at level 88 after many many mephisto runs. His notable finds were a Gul, Azurewrath, and about five or six other items I needed for my grail. He's the first of the three to be retired rather than killed off... he's just that durable. I don't think I could kill him if I tried. He kills Meph while I go to the fridge for beer... almost. All in all a pretty boring character. He's still around if I ever need a good meph runner, but for now he's shelved.
One item he found that I've never had access to is a Thundergod's Vigor. Meph also dropped both unique javalins, so my next project is a LF java-zon. This is the third try for a guardian of this build... maybe the belt will help.
Beating hell with HC char is always an accomplishment, but, as you said, for me too the druids are the worst and most boring class. T-God's is always nice to have, I too only have 1 :(

did you kill anything yourself? were you using a bow?
why was he so durable? no oak sage, no cyclone armor, no shapeshifting. was it the gear that made him tough or the minions?
how did you handle PIs?
did he have a beard?
I used a bow for a bit, but found it really unnecessary. I didn't kill anything myself, I just let my bear and merc kill them off. Merc was a might merc with reaper's toll dropping any PI monsters into the killable range for a couple seconds at a time. Recasting the bear on the rare occasion when something would chip away at it was pretty much all I did. Wheee!
Edit: For gear, I had "Wind" armor for +2 skills, "Spirit" shield for +2 skills, Mara's, Harly,... the club with +2 druid skills... I forget what it's called... I had one skiller that he actually found himself. I swiched to Alibaba and Rhyme shield when I got to meph. My AliBaba is socketed with +all resists jewels with other mods as well.
congrats on the guardian and +1 to l33tness for doing it with a non-cookie cutter build! I'd always thought that druid summoners were quite weak and very challenging, especially with no other way of killing.
Strange coincidence that is... I'm about to do the very same build right now (cvl around 50), but untwinked because I don't have much HC equip anyways. Since I therefore lack a Reapers, I'll try to compensate with a bow
