This is from a post in a single player forum post "1.11b", about the 1.11b patch.
The below is from LitmusDragon in that post:
"I'll download it if it fixes the Peace runeword. I'd like to make a Peace Fendazon, but as I understand it there were two bugs with Peace: One, that the runeword crashed the game when equipped on a Merc (fixed), Two, that the Valkyrie summoned from Peace disappears so quickly that the effect is practically useless.
It'd be nice if Peace worked correctly as it would get around the dodge/fend bug and allow a slightly-more-playable-than-is-currently-possible Fendazon."
I responded in that post, saying:
"Could you please explain how the Peace runeword fixes the dodge/fend bug? (As I understand it, the current Fend bug is that if you dodge/evade/avoid, while using Fend, every attack in that series of attacks after that point, will miss - correct me if I'm wrong). What attribute of Peace is it that solves the problem?
Peace (Amazon) 3 Socket Body Armor Shael + Thul + Amn
4% Chance To Cast Level 5 Slow Missiles When Struck
2% Chance To Cast level 15 Valkyrie On Striking
+2 To Amazon Skill Levels
+20% Faster Hit Recovery
+2 To Critical Strike
Cold Resist +30%
Attacker Takes Damage of 14
Thanks."
He hasn't responded yet. In the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone knows how Peace is supposed to fix the aforementioned bug? And, whether the patch has indeed fixed the two aforementioned Peace bugs?
Thanks.
The idea is simple - not to place points in Avoid/Dodge/whatever, but still have a Valkyrie by your side. (Which is not possible without the runeword, because Avoid/Dodge are prerequisites.
If you get hit while in the process of Fend, but do not avoid/dodge, just get hit, would you stop doing the fend or continue doing it, as you do if you avoid/dodge?Originally Posted by Hrus
Does Fend work with other weapons than Spears, such as Javelins, or just Spears?
And, do you know if the problems with Peace and the valykrie not lasting very long have been fixed?
Finally, could you reccomend, stats, skills and item placement for a Fendazon? It's probably too weak though, I don't know. For one thing if you use Passion and cannot invest in Avoid/Dodge/Evade, there doesn't seem to be many places to put the skill points.
One more noob question - How do you transfer items to different characters? I am making a Blizzard Mfer and will be transferring items to my other characters. Obviously one method is giving it to another player and asking him to wait while you join the game again with the different character but that has its risks. Are there any other ways?Originally Posted by CrazyMouse
Thanks.
For transfering items:
1. Get someone you can trust (read as: can beat up in real life) to mule it for you. (safest)
2. Use 2 computers and self mule. (safest)
3. Open a game, wait for at least 5 minutes (so that the game is permed), and drop and switch characters.
4. Open a game, drop immediately, and complete the character switch before 1 minute is up. (not recommended)
5. Drop somewhere in a public game that will last for a while. (not recommended)
Block and hit recovery also interrupt fend so don't think you are fine if you don't invest in D/A/E
fend works with all spear and javelin class weapons
ive played fending zons with and without the dodge, avoid, and evade skills. and i found out im better with out them when im fending. id rather take the hit but keep on doing damage than get stuck in the avoid, evade, or dodge anamation takeing damage. i use a silence pike mainly with a demons arch on switch for pi's which has worked great for me.
notes to remember when useing fend:
1. when making or useing a weapon, use one that has a long range. javs have a max weapon range of 2 while you can get a spear or pike with with a weapon range of 4. basically the longer your reach the more critters you can hit up to a max of 12.
2. i highly recommend not useing avoid, dodge, or evade. it a good way of getting you killed quickly if you get surrounded by critters or ranged attackers. ive died sooooooooo many times because of them life saving skills, to me its just not worth it. if the avoid dodge or evade animation activates you stop what your doing and go through the animation.
its good to hear from someone interested in fend, i was beginning to think i was the only one. good luck!
i loved fendazons in 1.09 and would gladly play them again if the interruptions did not exist like it was in 1.09
it's ironic that the skills meant to save a fendazon are the ones that lead to her death
Fend should be like zeal, as it was meant to be.
Awesome, I'm glad they fixed the other "If one hit misses they all miss" bug - I would have build a fender sooner, now I can make my melee/Impaler a Fender too!!!!!
Thankyou
ps. I hate d/a/e GET FHR with IAS (& a shield if you must).
