I'm currently trying to get the runes to make infinity for my amazon. What should I make it in? Which infinity polearm has the highest resale value? I was thinking of making it in a cryptic axe. Is that a good choice?
Highest resale value would be in an ethereal Cryptic Axe. Eth CV would also be good if you can handle the str req.
Cryptic axe it is then (eth of course).![]()
Cryptic axes have the highest base damage (49-225 ethereal), but they are also quite slow (base speed +10), and the Infinity runeword has no %IAS on it.
A better choice would be a Great Poleaxe, which, although doing a bit less damage (69-190 ethereal), is a bit faster (base speed 0). The next step would be a Giant Thresher, the fastest (base speed -10) but also the lowest damage (60-171 ethereal).
You'd think that there'd be a correlation betwen resale value and what actually makes the best overall weapon, but this is Bnet we're talking about after all :xmas4:
If I can make infinity, I am not going to think about the resale value much......
cryptic axe is said to have the best resale value, although eth cv is nice as wellOriginally Posted by Tvk
make sure to make it in an eth weapon, and remember, that weapon range is fixed at 3 for mercs so it does not matter

So then..for doom would the cv be best because of the inherent ias and -reqs?
No. CV has a very high strength req and is slow.
How about any of the elite Polearms, they are hard enough to find, and all will do you justice. Any of them will get the job done in hell. If you are going for the highest damage per hit then the CV is a good pick if you can't get a CA with 91.5 avg damage to the 91 from the CV, if you want to go for the big damage one hit killers (like for a chargadin or barb leaper), because you can easily get the str. for it (I mean you are going for damage anyways so you should easily have the 210 str. req (really the only good thing about the CA compared to the CV is that extra range. 4 range is sweet I don't care who you are). I found about 3, 4 socket CV pretty easily in a week. Shouldn't be hard as long as you do lots of Baal or Cow runs in Hell (remember NO MF!). Really it's all a matter of taste. I for one don't like the CV's for Merc's though (because of the high str. req. like I said earlier). I'd go with the GP or the CA.
