15 touchdowns is only important because Alexander is the only one who gets the Seahawks touchdowns within 10 yards of the end zone. If the Seahawks get the ball inside the five, Alexander will have 2-3 trys for a touchdown. Are we really surprised that he has this many?
Barber is just one of many options with the Giants, however. Brandon Jacobs has taken *6* touchdowns away from Barber from inside the two (and ask any commentator, that's not because Barber is untrustworthy), Shockey is always looked to on play action, Burress catches fades and even Jim Finn, the fullback, comes out of the backfield with great hands. Barber isn't the touchdown whore that Alexander is due to the nature of the Giants offense.
So even if the touchdowns aren't a wash and Alexander holds an edge, Barber still has him outgained by 300 yards, more yards per touch and is much, much more valuable to his team that Alexander is to his. Barber is carrying a team that has a rookie (by a definition of experience) quarterback and a wretched defensive secondary. Barber is the heart of that team and is much more valuable of a player.
And yes, the MVP goes to the player who carries his team, not the player who is the best statistically. Sometimes, when a player is head and shoulders above everyone else, he gets it. But was Steve Nash really the BEST player in the NBA last year? I think not. He was, however, the engine that made his team run, and he deserved the MVP. Barber epitomizes that type of role in the NFL, definitely much more than Alexander. But I still think Palmer is the MVP.
Oh, and Barber just broke a 75 year old Giants record for longest touchdown run with a 95 yarder. And he's not even the best player in his family, right?
Ridiculous.
Wow. I'm very surprised I pulled out a 9-7.
Nerf, you might get it again this week. What horror.
Stupid everybody.
