Armor Advice?

I did a search on the forums but didn't find the answer I was looking for. I finally got the runes for enigma but I just can't decide on an armor to use it in. I DO NOT care what it looks like but I'm trying to figure out what is going to be the best choice for pvm, whats going to keep me alive better...
I could go with archon for some defense but does defense really help that much in pvm? Would I be better off making it in something like a breast plate and putting more points into vit instead of str? I can't really afford things like this all the time so I want to make the right choice for what im doing. (Mainly Rushing and Hell Baal Runs). Any advice is appreciated as I'm sure many of you are tired of answering the same old questions over and over again.

The answer is simple really.
Put it in the highest defense armour you can wear (due to requirements).
If you are concerned about stamina drain and run/walk speed, Archon Plate is your best choice i think, and you will probably meet its low Str requirements already.

EDIT: Damn, hit Post instead of Preview .
But, do not get overzealous with spending points in Strength. Usually a (Superior) Archon Plate gives enough defense, so you can save some points to put in Vitality. Then again, if you need to up your Str to be able to wear other items, aim for another armour.

I take as given that you are strictly pvm. High defense is not that much of an issue. (In pvp eg smiters go for archon usually.) Here are some points I find important:

Survivability. If you made enigma in a low str. requirements armor you will be able to go with base str. and make a char with huge vitality (2k+ without bo).
Now that besides annis we have torches too a breasplate is useless in my opinion. Mage plate should be the starting point.

Resale value. Use a dusk shroud or an archon plate with as much ed% as possible. It is a bit stupid,enigma just adds 750-775 def on top and doesn't multiply the base defense but it is how market works.

What use you will make. If you plan to use it on a caster (hammerdin I bet,this is the paladin forum and you do pvm) then you need strenght only to equip items strictly. Get a light armor in that case (mage,archon,dusk,wyrmihide,wire etc). Keep in mind that you may want to give it to another char afterwards though.

but it has pretty nice defences so to the hell with gold and use a ral rune to repair :P

A lot of people talking about str req, resale value, etc..... but if look DOES matter to you then try your character with different kind of armor and see which one looks best ( besides, it's PVM, and repair cost, str req are less of an issue )

For me, "style" does matter ( especially in PVM ), i want my character to looks 'good' when i play

I went for archon...
high defense, low strength requirment, decent durability, light armour, and should i need to sell my enigma on it's worth more than most armours. plus it looks nice on hammerdin but you dont care about that

it was gonna cost me about 5 million to repair my forti the other day, god bless that ral rune :clap: . for enigma best bets are probably any of the light elite armours you can find.
