hello, fellow nec-heads, long-time necromancer, first-time poster here. i've been playing single since D2 came out and have p/matriarched numerous characters. imagine how it feels to pop onto battlenet and suddenly have to start all over again!
i am a complete moron when it comes to the game's online aspect. the first horrifying lesson was the discovery that you may no longer set the number of players. i swear, i almost cried. what's a sad, friendless level 3 slob to do?
not asking for handouts here, folks. i just need some primers on how one usually goes about levelling a ladder character. how do waypoints and town portals work with other players? is it considered rude to beg for waypoints? is partying truly the way to go?
i sound so stupid, but i'm pretty happy about battlenet so far, and it makes me feel like i'm learning the game all over again. that, at least, is cool. any help would be appreciated, lovers. long live the necromancer!
There are very common leveling games for every level out there. Here is how I go.
1-15 trist runs. Very common, you should be 15 in about 15-20 runs.
15-20 tomb runs. Canyon of the Magi and all the tombs. you should be 20 in 3 runs.
20 Ancients
21-25 cow level runs or more tomb runs. sometimes you cant find a cow run now that thay have gotten less popular.
25-~45 norm baal All baal runs are very common to find.
~45-~75 nm baal
~75+ hell baal
Small correction: Ancients at level 24.Originally Posted by Das Adin
I personally play mostly solo on bnet myself, and it isn't very different from SP, except for the fact that you can trade for items. You can also twink (pass on "godly" items). If you are looking for power lvling, the above would suit you well.
Edit: You will have a lot to learn if the patch you played in SP is 1.09 or older. Otherwise, it should be near identical to SP. WP's are for themselves, and maps are randomly generated each time. You can go through your ally's TP without closing them.
The Ancients quest can be done when a character has reached lvl 20, 40 or 60.Originally Posted by Evrae Altana

Exactly 193,694 exp if you want to get picky. Besides, why are you assuming that I lied and do ancients at 24 and not 20?
