O boy, I feel a huge rainy day coming. I messed up my sorc so was gonna remake her but now I'm scared that I'll lose all my items when I xfer them over...
well, i dont play anymore (i just enjoy the forums) and i did all HC.
Although i didnt have quite that bad luck.
In one of the games a friend and I were caught by a Moon Lord (the minotaurs) gang - with a unique. I tried to kill them, but then decided to run, because they were Might Enchanted
my 54 barb died.
Then my friend, a slightly higher level pally comes to loot me, he is chased by the Moon Lords and gets killed as well.
Once I accidently sold my Anni to Jamella during a lag spike. Then a few games after, accidently sold my CtA to Anya while gambling during another lag spike.
This might be an old thread but I can beat all of you guys except perhaps people who's accounts get wiped.
Worst ~day of bad luck: I was trading a 20 / 12 Sorc torch and a 15 / 12 / 9 Annihilus on this forum, and someone impersonating a high post-counter in my thread whispered me about the trade, offering a higher trade (I'm gullible and a bit greedier than I should be) and proceeded to rip me off about 5 Ists in value minimum (claiming he just had to get the ists off another char). I even had a bad vibe from him before doing the trade but I took a gamble and lost.
Then, the VERY NEXT DAY (so, worst 2 days of bad luck) I create an Eternity in an Ethereal Scourge because I want to use the revives and make a weird summoner barbarian with Eternity/Beast, and I figure since Eternity is indestructible, I might as well make it nice damage. Oh, oops. Can't repair an ethereal Eternity with Charsi OR recharge it using the cube recipe. Talk about a misleading pair of item stats (charges + indestructible)... Sur+Ber poofed! I think I managed to retrade it for 2 Ists later on though.
So in total I lost about 8-9 Ists minimum in a couple days. Somehow I managed to make a new Eternity though that worked. And proceeded to realize a Summoner / Singer barb does not work. Try frenzy though... that looked promising.
I was in a Baal run game and open my inventory to get a few more full reguv's when a lag spike hit, My hit points ended up at about 10 but the worst thing was I dropped the bow from the Mav's set I had just found !!!!
Course someone scooped it up imediately (this was during the days pick-up hack was around )
I was in Hell act 1 and a chest dropped a gold amulet, then you guessed I was frozen in place and game dropped always wondered what it might have been!!!!!
Course there have been various self-muleing accidents but nothing I could not afford to lose, just make you curse B-net a few more times.
I used to have a bad habit of socketing stuff with chipped gems as I moved them around, this was before the days of the removal process.
I've also been killed by a chest/trap/etc !!!!!! LOL
Well this is nowhere near as bad as the other stories here, but its probably just as infuriating.
Typical baal run. I was chasing after 2 venom lords that had gotten loose of the pack. I let my merc handle them while I watch. It seems my merc is not leeching well at all. So, while the merc is still fighting, I pop him a potion and then hit 'O' to open the merc screen. I check his weapon (passion eth cv) to see if it has any leech on it as I couldn't remember.
My merc kills one of them and he drops an um! My finger twiches from the excitement and I end up removing my merc's weapon. A split-second later, my merc dies before I can put the weapon back. I end up like this... Inventory full except for 2 boxes and I have a huge polearm for a pointer. I see a necro walking over. My mind races... I decide to drop the weapon, grab the um, then grab the weapon again and leave the game... I drop the weapon . . .
I hear the CD begin to spin as a cpu lag spike hits me. 5 seconds later, I recover, hit alt, and.. nothing. No um, no passion, nothing. :(
