    Torches, Keys and Organs?!

Ok I've played some about half a year ago with 1.10, but i saw 1.11 is out and with that I see people selling/buying keys and torches.

I tried to look it up with the search but nothing much came up. So what are these and where can I learn more about this stuff?

Well, I can't remember where I explained this before, so I'll type it out all over again lol

Keys : Keys are something new that was released in 1.11. There are three enemies in the game who can drop these special keys.

Countess : Found in the Tower in the Black Marsh, she drops the Key of Terror.
[Summoner : Found in the Arcane Sanctuary, he drops the Key of Hate.
Nihlithak : Found in the Halls of Vaught (Below the Halls of Pain), he drops the Key of Destruction

A collection of one of each of these keys is referred to as a "keyset". If you take a keyset to act 5 hell and transmute it in your cube, it will open a portal to one of three random areas.

Forgotten Sands This place is modelled after the Canyon of the Magi. Here, you will find lightning scarabs, those stamina-draining insect clouds, and the bugs that lay eggs. You will also find Uber Duriel here. He uses all of the same attacks as regular Duriel, but has much higher damage and much more life. Your prize for beating Duriel : Baal's Eye.

Furnace of Pain Here, you will find imps, oblivion/doom knights, dark lancers, and venom lords that are immune to lightning/cold/fire/poison/magic - three out of the four, randomly. Once you fight your way to the end, you will find Uber Izual, who uses the same attacks as regular Izual, except can also teleport as Baal does. Again, damage and hp have been ramped up. For beating Izual, you earn Mephisto's Brain.

Matron's Den This place is modelled after Countess's tower, except much larger (think Durance of Hate level 2, but done in the tower style). You'll find two different kinds of succubi, dark rangers, and dark lancers here. When you reach the end, you will find Lilith - basically, Uber Andariel. Her damage in all cases has been ramped up far more than either of the other two. Her poison clouds are deadly, and her melee attack can be devastating, particularly if the succubi have put amplify damage on you. She acts in all ways as regular Andariel does, however, she seems to have the Extra Fast mod as well, and can absorb magic hammers. When you defeat her, she drops Diablo's Horn.

Together, these three are referred to as an "organ set". If you take this organ set back to act 5 hell and transmute it in the cube, you open a portal to Tristram (I refer to it as Chaotic Tristram, to differentiate). Inside Tristram, you will find uber versions of each of the three prime evils; Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal. Each also summons minions, which will be described below.

Baal : Acts just as regular baal does, except instead of summoning tentacles, summons ghosts and vampires which are both immune to physical (And I believe both immune to poison, I"m fairly certain the ghosts are at least). Between the ghosts and baal's mana rift (Plus the fact that he can still summon his vile effigy) he poses a threat simply because of the fact he will tear your mana to shreds without a second thought. Overall, the least dangerous of the three.

Diablo : Acts just as diablo clone does. Which is to say, he acts like normal diablo, but also has armageddon, plus massively pumped up hit points and damage. He summons more of the venom lords that you fought in the Furnace of Pain. I find him to be the middle ground - not as easy a pushover as Baal, but not nearly as tough as Mephisto.

Mephisto : The hardest of the bunch. Not only have his hit points and damage been pumped up, but he now has the lightning enchanted mod, and has conviction that reduces your resistances by something like 120 or 125. Even with enough lightning resistance to stay at 30% after conviction, his charged bolt has been known to knock out my 3k life vanquisher in one hit if I suck up every bolt. He summons massive numbers of skeletal minions, which are easy to get rid of but the sheer number of them is what makes them difficult.

After you defeat all three, the last one to die drops one Standard of Heroes for every character in the game at that time (Same size as a small charm, requires level 90, does absolutely NOTHING.) and one hellfire torch. Hellfire torch is a unique large charm with the following attributes :

    +3 to a random class's skill levels
    10-20 to all resists
    10-20 to all stats
    +8 to light radius
25% chance to cast level 10 firestorm on striking (Incorrectly named; It should be Hellfire, in my opinion. This firestorm is the one Diablo uses.)
10 charges of level 30 hydra

Only one can be carried on a character at a time, and it cannot be placed within the trade window. THe only way to trade these is through drop-trades.

    Hope this helped!

Wow, that helped a bunch and was alot to read.

I have a question tho, is there still uber diablo to drop anni's or are those gone now?

[edit]O ye and I assume those "keys" can only be dropped by the hell versions of the specials? [/edit]

[edit2]And I think a thank you is in place here: Thank you very much![/edit2]

Intimidating for a first timer yes, but once you do it a couple times, it gets pretty easy, especially with a Smiter. If you need help, don't be afraid to ask the people on this forum.

Yeah, as mentioned, it's tough for the first one or two times. Then you start to develop a feel for it... I have a smite/hammer hybrid that I've built (expensive and time consuming, though) that goes from nothing to three keysets to a torch all in the space of two hours average. And yes, the keys can only be dropped in hell. My apologies for leaving that out.

One other note that I forgot to add was that if you transmute one set of keys and open a portal, you can transmute another set of keys in that same game and it will give you a different portal. So three sets = all three areas guaranteed. Just don't transmute them from inside your stash; Make sure the portals are away from each other or htey'll overlap and get messed up.

    And you're very welcome.

The ubers would be "frightening" if crushing blow and life tap did not affect them

Then you wouldn't have any solo people doing it without breaking a sweat

Crushing blow I could live without, it'd just take longer. In that case I'd put the one point into strength so I could use grief.

Life tap, on the other hand... well. I imagine that we'd have a lot more strafers doing the ubers if life tap didn't work. Probably with hammerdin backup to take care of all the minions.

Yes in other words it would require a goddamn party, which is what blizzard intended for this quest

Well true. It'd be a nice challenge to have to get a decent party of people. Problem is, finding a party of people you trust so you don't have everyone rushing for the torch.

Of course, you'd still have people who would do their damndest to solo it anyway, and as soon as one person figured out how, everyone would copy them. Go figure. Pretty much exactly what happened with this time around.
