is there a cap to lower resist?

I couldn't find a thread anywhere with the search tool, but anyway here is my question.

    1. Is there a cap to how much you can lower an enemy's resistances, or how far in the negative you can drive them?

    2. I've read that over 10 pts. into lr is a waste for breaking immunes, and that when breaking immunes the curse works at 1/5 effectiveness. How does breaking immunes work?

If someone could point me to a link or something I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

    1. If I don't remember it wrong, the lowest possible res for enemies is -100.

    2. When you try to lower the enemies resistance with LR and conviction, it will work at 1/5 when the res is over 100.
So if the enemy has 110 res and you cast lv10 LR(-55%), the first -50% takes away 10% res, then the last 5% from LR lowers the resistance down to 95%(or 99%, unsure if 100% also works at 1/5)

However, if the enemy have less then 100% it's just to substract the -res to the enemies res.
So if the enemy has 50% res and you cast lv10 LR..
    50% -55%= -5% res.

The difference between lv10 and lv20 LR is just -7% res. At a 1/5 effectivity, the difference is very small.

You can check enemies res on arreats summit. Alot of the immune one has 100-110%, which is breakable with lv10 res. They will however be very resistant, so don't expect things do go really fast unless you have high damage.

I hope this help in some way, and if I said anything that's wrong, please point it out.

The 20% effectiveness works for the entire reduction, not just until 100 or 99%. In this case the monster would have 99% to a certain resist. The same counts for Conviction btw, if a monster once had an immunity Conviction will receive the same 1/5th penalty even after LR broke the immunity.

Thanks guys, that clears things up. So if my understanding is correct, -to enemy resists stacks with lr for non-immunes.

    ex. trangs partial bonus -25% + lower resist lvl 10 -55% = -80%

But for immunes, -to enemy resists from items does not get factored, only lr at 1/5 effectiveness?

For immunes, Lower Resist and Conviction are applied at 1/5th. IF the immunity is broken, -%res items work at full capacity. If the immunity is not broken, -%res items do nothing at all.

Amplify damage and Decrepify are applied like Lower Resist/Conviction. Cold Mastery is like -%res items.

Cool, thanks. I was hoping it worked that way.
