    New Barb Build help.

A friend and I are trying to build a new type of barb, not going to release it till it is finished (still fixing the kinks). But we had a huge question: How does Enhanced Defense work on a weapon? And vise verse how does enhanced damage work on an armor? Does it add it at the end when everything else is done adding or before or when?

    Ex:

    Sword:
    1-100 (damage base)
    %100 enhanced defense

    Armor:
    100 (def)
    %100 enhanced damage

just to make things simple how would that work, also what if the sword already had enhanced damage, and the armor already had enhanced defense?

Thnx for your help guys you won't regret this one.

Dont know if im right but im pretty sure that enhanced dmg mods like that are applied to the base dmg of the weapon. Info like that might be around somewhere in past threads or in a calculator somewhere. Kinda excited to see what your up to lol. Good luck.

Thnx Bloke you were correct, found this to verify:
Aldur's Watchtower - The 350% Enhanced Damage is on the complete set, not on the weapon. Enhanced Damage from non-weapon equipment works like Enhanced Damage from skills and the strength bonus, which is different from how Enhanced Damage on the weapon works. Essentially, the 350% ED will add 350% of your weapon damage to your total. With a 60-93 damage weapon, that means the 350% Enhanced Damage will add 210-325 total damage. This is really not very significant, but it's not a bug, just a balance issue.

But still not sure on enhanced defense from a non-armor source. If the weapon has enhanced defense does it add it to every defense providing item or just the armor? Anyone know where to look for that?

    The Fortitude Barbarian

This is a guide for the Ladder only build "Fortitude Barbarian"
as told by: HeySteve and Jejyman

So the main goal of this build is to utilize the Fortitude runeword to its max potential:

    Fortitude

    4 Socket Weapons/Body Armor

    El + Sol + Dol + Lo

    Weapons
20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
    +25% Faster Cast Rate
    +300% Enhanced Damage
    +9 To Minimum Damage
    +50 To Attack Rating
    20% Deadly Strike
Hit Causes Monster To Flee 25%
    +200% Enhanced Defense
+X To Life (Based on Character Level)*
    All Resistances +20-30 (varies)
12% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
    +1 To Light Radius

    Body Armor
20% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
    +25% Faster Cast Rate
    +300% Enhanced Damage
    +200% Enhanced Defense
    +15 Defense
+X To Life (Based on Character Level)
    Replenish Life +7
    +5% To Maximum Lightning Resist
    All Resistances +20-30 (varies)
    Damage Reduced By 7
12% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
    +1 To Light Radius
and we decided to use a Barbarian for their Two Weapon fighting style to max the stats from the runeword. Total added stats are as such:

60% Chance To Cast Level 15 Chilling Armor when Struck
    +75% Faster Cast Rate
+(X*3) To Life (Based on Character Level) (worst case scenario each runeword gives 1 per lvl equalling 3 life per lvl)
    +100 To Attack Rating
36% Damage Taken Goes To Mana
All Resistances +60 (worst case scenario)
    +3 To Light Radius

these are only the stackables that I know how they work still am a little iffy on the enhanced defense, but I'm sure we'll get that straightend out.

We looked at skills and the way we wanted to go is Frenzy (if this doesn't work we plan on rebuilding, probably with whirl wind). Here is what we plan to put our skill points into:

    20 Sword Mastery
    20 Frenzy
    20 Berserk
    20 Double Swing
    20 Taunt
    1 Bash
    1 Stun
    1 Concentrate
    1 Double Throw
    1 Howl
    1 Natural Resist
7 Iron Skin (this may change as needed, maybe used for BO)

And now for the important parts The Equipment:

    Helm
Arreat's Face (the one thing we have so far)

    Weapon
2x 4 socket Colossus Blades (this is what we thought was the best weapon for the build, but open for suggestions)

    Armor
4 socket Armor with at least 500 defense

    Amulet
    Mara's Kaleidescope

    Rings
    Bul-Katho's Wedding Band
    Ravenfrost

    Gloves
(Not for sure what to go with here, looking at Dracul's Grasp or Souldrainers, but maybe something else would work)

    Boots
(Same as gloves, looking at Gore Rider for the boots)

    Belt
The Disciple Credendum (for resists and + to attributes)

We haven't yet built this yet, as finding three Lo runes is no easy task, but we plan to start soon. Do you guys have any suggestions on what might help this build or what we are doing wrong? Thanks in advanced.

    suggestion for fortitude barb

preserve 20 points for battle order and points for mastery like naturel resistance. Shout is a nice cry to for precious skill points investment so your fortitude barb will be playable he will not be a cracked glass cannon

You know with that little fcr you may be able to pull off a frenzy/war cry type hybird or somethin. If you just put maybe 10 pts or so into war cry it could be used as a useful stun attack combined with the frenzy, eh just a thoguht but w/e works works lol. As for the gloves maybe try to make some blood gloves or even get some up'd blood fists as a budget option. Otherwise the dracs/ drainers will probably be the better choices for you. If you still have resist problems consider using a treachery prebuf to get resist and some extra DR (which from the looks of it you guys could benefit from it) For the helm i may even suggest getting hold of a CoA for DR, resist, sockets (cold facets maybe?), etc. Experiment but it seems like it could be a bit of an interesting build if one has the Lo's, etc laying around . Good Luck.
