Most annoying thing ever. I only figured out today how to get around that tempban with my Linksys router.

I went to my router's web-based setup page (usually 192.168.1.1), then Status, and DHCP Release followed by DHCP Renew. I checked my IP address before and after, and they were different. Yaaay!

You changed your computer's IP address on your network, not your router's IP address that the D2 servers see. So you probably just got lucky and the temp ban expired.

Well but if he was running the router as PPPoE and his DSL modem was in bridge mode then releasing IP on the Router would regrab a new ip from the provider

Is this Realm-Down caused by joining to many games, or by opening to many games?

Exactly, if they temp ban everyone so often, why are there still so many bots and advertisements?

It seems that they can only catch normal people doing stupid thing once a while, but they can not catch bots cheating every minute. If that is the case, they are a bunch of ****ing idiots.

I'm glad to read I'm not the only one having these problems, I thought it was something I had been doing. Thankfully I haven't tried to mule anything yet, as I figured something like this would happen, I've gotten numerous temp bans simply joining games too fast/switching chars.

This would not bother me so much if it actually cut down on spamming bots. The thing that irritates me is being a legitimate player, still having problems, yet spam bots flood every single game I'm in with an entire screen of advertisement. How is it that bnet seems to favor bots over everyone else? Do they want D2 LOD to devolve into no human players using battle net and every single game just lvl 1 bots spamming advertisement? I just don't see the logic. If we keep having these temp bans, atleast make it so I can join a game and be able to see where my character is walking.

Both join and creating games too quick can get you a temp ban. Even click mouse too quick can get you a possible ban.

Starting to get annoying when I've been banned a few times now and when I return the Bots are still up and running, doing hundreds of games an hour. I join a few and I get some 10 hour ban.

Just got it for same thing, first mf run today. What a nice way to start a day!
