"Your connection has been temporarily restricted..."

from this realm. Please try to log in at another time."

Been playing the game on and off for a number of years and this is the first time I've ever seen this message. Anyone know anything about it?

Battle.net is notoriously over-zealous at restricting people who are suspected to be bots. All they would have to do is ban characters with vrg_[roman numeral] or rsg_[roman numeral], because these are the most annoying spam bots. All you can do to avoid it is to not join a lot of games within a short period of time, and to avoid logging on/off or switching characters very quickly.

The latter is nominally there to fight bot spammers, but I believe Blizzard's secret motive is to discourage muling (though muling is not endorsed by Blizzard, they would suffer greatly if muling were declared illegal). Why? By driving up the already hyperinflated item/rune costs as much as they can (runes are unaffected by mf, on top of their insane rarity), it entices more people to visit sites that sell items for actual money. These sites, as well as private players selling items on EBay, make a ton of money, and I suspect Blizzard gets their cut as well.

Oh, and dont scroll your mousewheel really fast. You will be restricted without warning.

Blizzard says they need to restrict people who cause lag to the servers

It is not for restricting bots.

Oh yeah, set of Diablo II and LOD costs 12€ (14$) In Finland

Blizz is not trying to ban the bots, they are running them. they are making to much money from the online stores. they need to free up bandwidth so they ban the real players so the bots can run more efficiently

Actually it has nothing to do with bots.
Battle.net claims that they are restricting people who are lagging servers.

And yeah I fixed this problem by getting 4 cd-keys.
I got them for 10€ a set from a normal store.

It's the new Realm Down message. Once you get it, don't try logging back on repeatedly, as this will only extend the ban. Go take a nap or play with ducks or something and try again later.

Ah. Thanks guys. I had been going in and out of games and changing characters pretty fast. I did manage to get on after taking a break for a few minutes.

And on the topic of muling, the day they outright make it illegal will probably be the day I stop playing. The only reason I'm on Bnet instead of single is so I can mule items and make the occasional trade. I pretty much always play solo.

Yeah, I experience the same thing and I e-mailed blizzard and asked them wzup with that restricted **** on the game. I'm used to transfers items by myself and or used my higher characters to complete some quest. Anyway, they say not to join too many games in a short period of time etc. is just all bull**** if you ask me. I've been playing this game for 5 or 6 years and I'm getting to the point to just stop playing.

Some of the mInions in hell are harder to kill than the actual bosses, specially those immune to lightining. I get disconected from the game all the time and I get so damm frustrated at all the bugs that this new patch has.

If Blizzard is working on Diablo III they better cut all the crap and make this game more user friendly. who cares if people cheat? Who cares if people buy special /unique items on ebay? or other sites? I've been playing for a long time and I had gotten some cool stuff but I had to spent years of playing in order to get/trade for complete sets or godly items.

The shops sucks! they sell crappy items and they should make it all the godly items for accessible for all the players. what's the point in playing the game if you never going to get a godly item?
