    New to the 1.11 Amazon

I just recently came back to D2, and it seems the old ways of the Amazon have died. No longer is maxing guided arrow a must, and multi-shot the ultimate attack in PvM. Things like strafe and freezing arrow are now the powerhouse of the bowazon. After reading the forums a bit, I've come up with this build for my poor little amazon with no money. The only equipment I do have for it, is a Goldstrike Arch Bow, which I think is a very nice bow to start out with.

Str: 134 (Enough for the windforce, just about every amazon's dream bow, and will let me be versatile when choosing equipment.)
Dex: 167+ (Enough for the windforce again, but will definently shoot for 200+)
Vitality: 85+ (Or whatever I feel comfortable with)
    Energy: 0

    Passive Tree:
    12 Dodge
    12 Avoid
    12 Evade
    12 Critical
    1 Inner Sight
    1 Slow Missiles
    1 Penetrate
    1 Pierce

    Total: 52 Skill Points

    Bow and Crossbow Tree:
    20 Strafe
    20 Cold Arrow
    20 Freezing Arrow
    1 Magic Arrow
    1 Multiple Shot
    1 Guided Arrow
    1 Ice Arrow

    Total: 64 Skill Points

    Total in all: 116

I obviously need to cut at least 6 skill points off. This will probably come from critical strike, or maybe cold arrow since it's only for the synergy.

Any thoughts on what I should lower, or raise, or switch, or anything? Any advice is welcome. The character is mainly for PvM, such as rushing, or attempting to MF, although it won't be as great as a pure MF sorc. It will be more fun though.

Dodge, avoid, and evade can all be cut significantly. The diminshing returns mean that a few base points and +skills can get them to an ideal level. And since you're a ranged attacker, adding 6-7 more points for a 5% higher chance in that skill isn't worth it. Dump them into penetrate.

And you don't need 134 str for windforce. Don't forget any +strength gear you have elsewhere that can get it to 134.

I would lower points in D/A/E and Cold Arrow. I would place them in Valk. But if you do not want a Valk, then keep the synergy and lower D/A/E.

You will need a lot of mana leech, since FA uses mana like we use water. But you can switch to to fill up the bulb again.

if you do decide to go fa, you will need more points into penetrate and pierce....the a/r bonus for fa is bugged....don't believe what you see on the screen....pierce will trigger another splash when used with fa....might want to consider using a razortail....200 dex seems very low....higher dex= higher a/r and 1 point in dex equates to 1%ed....even with a high damage bow like a wf...200 may not cut it in hell....especially in full games

several good end game items will give strength boosts...nos coil, war travs, lionheart and andariel's....use these saved points to pump your dexterity

might merc with an insight will boost your damage and help keep your blue topped up

quote of the day..."fear my nuts!"....foamy

    welcome to the forums

I think I'll keep my evasion skills at 1 for a while, and see where that gets me. If I end up not having enough % in these, I'll add on to those later when I have left over skill points. I'll also see if I can squeeze in a level 17 valkyrie.

I think I have a good idea of my skill point allocation then. It's just that in the past, I've designed characters with no +skill equipment in mind, just so when I do get this equipment, it's icing on the cake. I did just remember though...that I got some gloves with +2 passive amazon skills and IAS today. That should help me get those evades up a bit for starters.

As for my stat points, I have no idea what sort of equipment I'll have available to me later on. That is why I chose 134 strength. It's sort of a safety net as far as equipment goes. If I find some cool new item, I can say "Hmm, good thing I have enough strength so I can use this cool new item!". The general consensus seems to be I need less strength, and need to push dexterity as high as possible. Sounds good to me. I just have no idea how much strength to shoot for having no idea what equipment I'll be getting.

Also, thanks for the warm welcome!
