The video
From the video exactly which part of the beating isn't justified? Can you punch the guy a few times in the face if he's trying to bite and scratch the officers? The officers could've used a swift kick to the nuts. That'll drop any guy.
Now, the part about shoving the tourist--that's going over the line. If I was that guy, I'd make sure I sue the cop for mental distress.
Imagine yourself talking to a person and not violating any laws, and suddenly punched in the face. Then two other cops holding your arms behind your back, and you get punch in the face again.Originally Posted by Dirty_Zulu

All this while a 4th cop on horseback tries to block any filming. Then another cop assaults a producer for filming this incident.
Could you define "justified?"
Resisting arrest is not a smart idea.
Excessive force is also not a smart idea.
Both the police and the man did something incredibly stupid but the man at less had a reason for his actions. I'd resist my arse off if I was getting the crap kicked out of me.
A trained police officer should NEVER EVER need to use excessive force. Simple armlocks and holds should be enough....and if you have more that 2 officers, not a single strike should ever be needed to subdue an suspected offender.
I bring this down to extreme lack of judgement from the officers and a complete disregard for basic self-defense and offensive training.
Police in New Zealand also have the same idiotic mentality.....
I'd resist too if I didn't do anything..
As for the 2 police officers.. Like TheUnchosen said. Force wasn't even needed. Armlocks should be enough, maybe even pepper sprays if he did retaliate?
Let this be a lesson to all 64-year-old retired teachers!
yo he was blatantly being a minority in front of those cops, what did he expect?
There was no judgement involved. These guys were out of control. End of story.
Those cops were way out of line. The only question I have is: is this an institutional problem or just a bunch of morons?
You're a Kiwi? Well, that explains your avatar! :lol:Originally Posted by TheUnchosen
My Enlish professor today coined a new verb. She said the cops basically "Rodney King'ed him." We got a good laugh out of that one.
I think your English professor needs to get back to teaching the basics.Originally Posted by PatMaGroin
