I did Ubers for the first time today.. twice!

Here's a somewhat long story of my Uber run experience. It's somewhat of a nice read for those who haven't done them yet or anyone who likes to read HC experiences.

So today myself and two friends finished our Uber paladin builds, which added up to two smiters, and a hammerdin for crowd control. My smiter would provide max fanatacism, the other smiter would have max Salvation, and the hammerdin would provide extra damage with Concentration. So at about 2 AM we decided (out of no where) to do an Uber run. We prebuffed with Treachery for DR (what a waste of time, we only did it once), and had assistance from Cynical_BO with some nice BO and shout, thanks again man. So we went ahead and cubed the first three keys and Duriel's "Forgotten Sands" portal appeared. We all headed through, on somewhat of an adrenaline rush, and almost instantly came in contact with Duriel. We jumped right on the smiting, and there were no other creatures around so the Hammerdin also setup and unleashed his fury, and within a few seconds Duriel was dead. We picked up the body part and ran back to town, where we quickly cubed Izzy's Furnace portal.

We had a small conversation on what to do if there were Mages around (since they cast IM), and quickly ran into the portal before the BO wore off. We battled through some random Act 4 mobs, and some you would see in those red portals in Act 5 (Abaddon, etc). Luckily we didn't come across any Mages, and when we got close Izzy tele'd right to us which made things rather easy, he was dead in about 30 seconds. We snatched the next body part and ran back to town for BO, and then headed into Lilith's lair.

We heard the stories of Lilith dealing incredible poison and physical damage, but I'd have to say the Hell Temptress with Amp and those red bone spirits almost took me out once, first full rejuvination of the run. Sadly, many elite and champions groups of Lancers, Archers, and Temptresses spawned, and as our Hammderin was clearing out the Temptresses, a group of elite Lancers ran at him. FE + Cursed + Extra Strong + Hammers already in flight = death. We had to stop for a few minutes and kill everything off in the room, then loot him. We only had the two smiters left, but decided that we had come too far to stop, so onward we went. We got to Lilith rather quickly after that, and my life jumped up and down with Lifetap and her massive poison damage. Regardless, she fell within 30 seconds, and no potions were used. We headed back to town, called for our last BO/shout, and cubed the three body parts to created the Uber Tristam portal.

We entered the portal and popped out to the right of the town's center, and luckily there was no one around, so we decided to hug the walls and make our way around in a counter clockwise motion. If you were to say that the highest corner in Tristam is 12, at about 5 a few dozen of random skelteons came up from the ground, and a Lightning Enchanted Mephisto walked over. Sadly enough he is the most feared Uber, and he died in less than 30 seconds. His little minions stayed around though, so we ran backwards along the wall and at about 8 we were surrounded by those limbs that rip out of the ground in the Worldstone Charmber. Baal ran over, and right behind him was Diablo, and it was on. I jumped on Baal, the other smiter on Diablo, but we were quickly surrounded by every minion you could think of. Pit Lords, Skeletons of all kinds left over from Meph, Blood Mages, etc. As with Lilith, my health jumped up and down because of Life Tap, but I had to use one full rejuvination in order to replenish my mana. About 45 seconds into the battle Baal fell, and Diablo did the same shortly after, and then came the real challenge! Dodge and weave through the dozens of minions to collect the standard of heroes items and a unique large charm, being the Hellfire torch. I had to use a full rejuvination as I was running out of the crowd toward the exit, and it was only the third one I used through out the whole Uber experience.

We were all ecstatic, even though our first torch was an Amazon torch, it was still a torch, and we got through it all with two smiters and suffered a minor death to a mistake, but the Hammerdin will be back up and ready for Ubers in a few days. We were all quite shocked as to how fast and rather easy it was, and about an hour later we decided that we'd do ANOTHER run with just our two smiters. I'll spare you guys another essay, but I'll give you a quick summary. Duriel was and is by far the easiest. Walk through the portal and go up, he's there and it's over in less than 30 seconds. Izzy was next and about three steps in we met a few Death Mages (they cast IM!) so the Hammerdin who was sitting in the game with a Barbarian as an emergency looter brought in his Sorceress and tele'd down to Izzy (easily, I might add) and he went down like the rest. We went back to our normal routine with Lilith, and she went down easily, but this time we didn't come across as many elites/champions. The Ubers were also the same, we did the same counter-clockwise walk and got Meph first, then Baal, then Diablo. We ended up with another Amazon torch and I used a total of 4 full rejuvinations. All and all, we didn't end up with the most popular charms, but the experience of the whole thing balanced it out. So is Uber's do-able in Hardcore, of course, if you have the right funds and group you can take them down easily. I hope this helps some people, and entertains some as well.

    Good luck and enjoy.

Definitely one of the funnest experiences D2 has to offer. I was the other smiter in the story. As far as the equipment we used:

    Newbavour:
    Helm: 2xUm'd Giant Skull
    Armor: Up'd Um'd Shaft
    Weapon: Shael'd Heavens Lightl
    Shield: Up'd PDiamond HoZ
    Belt: TGods
    Rings: Raven and Dwarf Star
    Ammy: 28 All Res
    Gloves: Draculs
    Boots: Up'd Goblin Toe

17 all res Anni in my inventory. I had no charms, save for the anni and a few r/w charms. If you use Goblin Toes, get yourself the r/w charms, having no r/w charms is rather annoying.

Altogother, the gear adds up to 189 all res with all Anya quests completed. I had a level 25 Salvation, which provides +111 resistance. 111+189 = 300. 300 res is the most resist you'll need. Cancels out Mephisto's -125 conviction and Hell's -100 penalty, goving you full resist under th harshest -resist conditions the game offers.

Also, my merc only died once the entire 2 uber runs. It was to Lilith's massive poison on the second trip. He was geared up well:

    Helm: Stealskull
    Weapon: Eth Kelpie Snare
    Armor: Eth "Stone" Wire Fleece

The wire fleece has 3.6k defense on it thanks to the cube bug. I don't recall if slow works on the ubers or not.

Use charge outside of town, shop a +1 vigor weapon for inside town and keep it on switch.

    ViolentByDesgin
    Level 79 Smiter

    Helm: Um'd Guils Face
    Amulet: 30+ All Res
    Weapon: Black Flail
    Shield: Up'd P-Diamond HoZ
    Armor: Duress Boneweave
    Belt: T-Gods
Rings: Raven Frost and Dwarf Star
    Gloves: Draculs Grasp
    Boots: Gore Riders

My inv was about 3/4 full of random res charms, which ended up giving me +300 to all resists (Anya included) with level 25 salvation, which in turn gives me max res against Meph's conviction.

Sup all, I was the Hammerdin. By far the hardest part of doing the ubers is the trip to Lilith. One thing that I didn't know is that the Uber Three's Minions do not die off after the Uber Three die - like the minions of Rada or Shenk do. Also, the ubers give some nice exp, after the second time my barb and the 2 smiters went back in to finish off the minions

    Daddy_Yawkey
    Level 81 Hammerdin

    Helm: PRuby Shako
    Armor: PRuby 30% Vipermagi
    Weapon: 39% Hoto
    Shield: PDiamond HoZ
    Belt: Arachnid
Rings: FCR Rings with some other mods
Ammy: +2 Pally / 15 All res / 8 Str + minor mods rare amulet
    Gloves: Magefists
    Boots: Waterwalks

Obviously I had little trouble getting max resists with salvation. Luckily I got all my stuff back too. Since the guys did whole thing again pretty easily without my assistance, I'm going to make a disposable orb sorc to tele to Lilith and Izzy. Maybe bring in my summoner too for tanks and life tap. Or both. I dunno, any suggestions?

Again, if you have a chance to join in on this, it was pretty fun and I highly recommend trying it out.

If you're a smiter, can't you just equip jade tan do and Iratha's Collar (amu) for Lilith. That gives you 95% psn res and 75% psn length reduced. If you only take 5% of the damage during 25% of the time, it's 0,25 * 0,05 = 0,0125 = 1,25% of the damage

    My thoughts exactly.
Which is why I'm keeping those items (+ Venom Ward just in case) for when I finally get to pk Lilith.

    Her poison damage doesn't matter.
What does matter is all the birdies casting amp around her.
If you can clear the birdies Lilith isn't really any harder than Izzy or Durry, or at least it's easy with 75% poison res, I suppose if you're ignoring PR but have max all elements it might be more paintful. Not that having 95% res and/or -%duration wouldn't make it even less painful, but I think that's overkill and you sacrifice CB in your weapon, so not worth it imo.

Oh, and venom ward = no shaft = her physical (the actual dangerous part) hurts even more, I think venom ward would dramatically increase the danger.
