Is it possible to block elemental attacks with a shield?

AFAIK, no, you can only block physical missile with a shield such as arrows and may be blood stars from succubi (I'm not sure for the last one).

An asassin dual wielding claws can block elemental attacks with weapon block, however.

true true and 101% true, I remember my old trapsin days back in ladder2 where i blocked lightning bolts from lightning enchant bosses

you can also block, with a sheild, the blue cold ball from meph
