Well, I have practically no gear other than my MF gear, so that pretty much makes it impossible to do ANYTHING in Hell. The only thing I can manage in Hell is the pits, my merc has eth cv insight, so he does 3k dmg, and I can tele anywhere. My lightning does a pathetic 9k dmg (shes lvl 77). I am also just coming off losing my topazed Skullys, I died twice in 1 game and the corpse with Skullys is gone for good. So my MF dropped from 420 to 300.
I can also do Shenk/Eld/Pindle in Hell, but I like doing NM Andy/Meph more for some reason. My mercs gear :
-Eth CV Insight
My crappy MF gear :
Tarnam Skull Cap (Ptopazed)
+30 mf +14 all res ammy
34 Vmagi (Ptopazed)
2x P nagel
20 MF boots
My couple switch items :
Frostys for teleporting (I only have 300 mana w/o them :()
Magefits for teleporting (I need to use mana pots every once in a while with them on, but never with frostys on)
+2 light ammy for killing
So yeah, she sucks. I need a Shako, but I can't MF anything that will give me anything worthy of trading for a Shako. I also need Skullys back, the 120 mf drop was a hard hit. If I got Skullys, I could probably drop the Goldwrap and find a better belt.
hmmm... I don t see anything so wrong about your gear. Also 9k dmg lightning should be enough to kill in solo games. You do have enough fcr, although your resistances may be a bit low. I m just guessing here but maybe the problem is how you spent your stat points instead of your gear, if you die constantly it may be your life is too low.
Try to level a bit and lvl your merc too things get easier when monsters are at your same level.
Im sorry you lost that skullders its a nice mf armor, but appart from more mf it cannot give you anything you dont already have there, just keep in mind the difference between 400 and 300 mf is not as big due to diminishing returns so you should still be able to find almost all the same with your current mf%.
the only thing lighitng sorcs are good at running are pindle/shrenk/eldrich/countess/pits
They can kill, just not very fast...... It takes a few mins just to moat meph.

Meteorb also kills fast enough, don't diss it. You don't need a LR wand neither if you can get Tal's orb and 2 other piece. Well placed orb and meteor kills fast. Otherwise, you can always moat meph.

If you are using eth reaper, you shouldn't be using merc for teleing at all. The only reason you actually tele with merc is insight. Besides, that thing has rather good damage. The damage you should use in your calculation is 1.3~1.5 time of the one displayed (critical strike). Particularly useful for tanking leechable enemies (just not Chaos, they die in 1 hit when it criticals). Many of us like to do more than just Andy and Meph only, you know.

I tried Hell Meph once before. He finished my Merc in 2 hits, and my lightning wasn't doing jack. Probably because I forgot to static him...but still, my merc is useless. I tele to the portal and run up to Meph and then step back and let my merc try.
Well, I did probably partially screw her over when I put 150 pts into strength (for Spirit Monarch). BUT, the Spirit gives me back a lot of vit and life, mana, and skills.
