Take a bunch of trailer trash from Alabama who torture kittens to pass the time, give them an AK-47 and an inflated sense of their importance, put them through some ultra-macho dehumanising training and tell them "go kill some Iraqis". Hey, imagine that - they're not conscientious, morally upright guys.

I was kind of angry. I know they aren't all like that. But it's not just one or two bad apples either - this is clearly an endemic problem.

Back when the Nick Berg video came out..I did a search to find out if it was real "looking" as some said it wasn't...needless to say I found a website that deal with nothing but death...and not just pictures, many, many videos....of murder, suicide, and torture. I mean those pictures shown here are weak compared to this site I found. I WILL not give out the addy...as a few yrs later I still have the screams and images in my head...so dont ask.
But ya...its sick, and its happening from all walks of life. Actually when you said they are trading them for porn for a site...I would not doubt its the site I have...casue its got all kinds of porn on it to.....human and animal.

ps. I havent looked at any of that stuff tho....I dont care to even see it. I don't doubt some of these sites anymore. I haven't deleted the site mainly cause if a famous person gets killed on TV, or video somewhere..and the media starts to talk about it like "is it real" crap and whatnot...I have to find out or myself....this site tells all. They even on the front page ask for any pics/videos of war/torture/murder/etc.
Oh ya..and even have a monthly magazine you can purchase with all the death pictures in them....sick people.

To Jimmy: Perhaps you are beginning to understand. Soldiers must be killing machines. The best soldiers are the unthinking, unfeeling, killing machines. And one of the sacrifices you have to make when you choose to become one is to give up everything you've ever known to be right. War is no time for moral questioning. War is always ugly and miserable and the best way to end it is to destroy your enemy. Unfortunately, I understand that once you become a soldier, there's no turning back. For the ones out there, there's no turning back. Every time you kill, you become a little less human every time. Military training is designed to reduce its effects so that the soldiers do not take killing for granted, as it is still a horrible thing. They must willing and ready to do it at all times, but understand what they are doing and must respect it.

That is why soldiers must be isolated from society as much as possible. They cannot afford to have civilians who know nothing of war or combat criticize them because of societal morals- they must live and die by the morality of the regiment. And that is why despite our training and equipment, the American soldier is not the ideal soldier. They might be the best trained and best equipped, but most are not effective soldiers. Being a soldier requires extraordinary sacrifice that I think most of you would not understand, despite what you may think.

Respect who they are and what they do. As disgusting as it is, I would hope you could at least try to understand that some of them might not be strong enough mentally to do such things. That is what war does to people. Words do not do soldiers justice.

Sorry, I'd have to disagree. The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) defines a soldier's conduct very well. All soldiers are required to abide by this code.

Just because we send our soldiers to war doesn't mean be abrogate them from criminal behavior, just the civilian standard. Torture, killing unarmed civilians, killing POWs are all still prohibited in the UCMJ.

If a soldier can't abide by the UCMJ, then he can always give the judges advocate notice.

If the UCMJ is disposable, then we're wasting my taxpaying money printing up the UCMJ for soldiers, and we might as well hand them out for use as toilet paper.
