This announcement just in:
CNNNEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- President Bush on Tuesday said he takes responsibility for the federal government's failures in responding to Hurricane Katrina.
"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government and to the extent the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility," Bush said during a joint news conference with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.
So what does "taking responsibility" mean?
Feel free to start a "grass roots" Impeach Dubya Campaign.
As much as I think the man is an awful president, and I think its ridiculous he is our leader, I really respect the fact that he can own up to his mistake in this case.
Still think hes a pretty bad president, but +1 on the character side of things for Bush.

So Llad, what does Bush have to do for you to say something nice about him?
On one hand I feel I owe a little respect to Bush for taking responsibility, yet on the other hand I feel like he should have done so long before now. The whole thing has been an atrocity from the President downwards. The acceptance of responsibility was in my opinion due, however it doesn't change the fates of the men women and children whose lives have been ended or ruined by this terrible tragedy.
The problem with the Bush administration is NEPOTISM.
Mike Brown is not the first inexperience person appointed to a vital position solely for his loyalty.
Unfortunately this is not the last of the Mike Browns (see - Chief Justice Roberts).
If Bush is truely apologetic, he would stop selling this government to the highest bidder.
There are sooooooooo many other well qualified Republicans for each of these posts.
Stop appointing persons who are still "wet behind their ears."
Psst, it ain't nepotism unless they're related. :uhhuh:
My opinion of Bush was raised slightly by him taking responsibility. I still think he's a dangerous incompetent fool, but at least he's able to do something honourable.
Respect.
I reckon Bush is a honorable person but one very crappy politician.
That can be perceived as two compliments..
Hi
Maybe I'm just being cynical, but is he taking responsibility cos he feels truely responsible, or is this just a ploy to try and limit the damage from all the negative press and improve his low approval ratings ?
Resign or die .... I feel the world would be alot safer without GW in charge of the only "superpower"....what does Bush have to do for you to say something nice about him?
Non Americans ofcourse can not vote for who is to be the US President ... yet his decisions and the policies of his government (particulaly foreign policies) effect most people of world due to Americas superpowerness, be it military or economical.
Might does not make right ... without thinking of the consequences to others, it just makes you a bully.
Regards
Syxx
