[L] USEast PROVISIONAL Price Guide- a few selected values to use for now

    USEast Ladder Price Guide
New Ladder Preliminary Guide : August 9, 2005

    USING THE NEW POINTS-BASED SYSTEM:
This is not the toughest change you will ever be asked to endure, and after a couple of months in the new ladder, the improvements will be undeniable. Rather than evaluating items in terms of appropriate runes to trade for them, all items are now evaluated in terms of ‘points’. Start by perusing the rune-to-points conversions: You’ll see that Um = 100 points, and all other runes go up or down from there IN THE SAME RATIOS that pgems did. A batch of 40 pgems is now listed at Pul, the prevailing price for the first ¾ of the last ladder season (before dupe-inflation took hold).

To advertise items FT, simply list the item as you always have, and ISO xxx points, with a minimum denomination of whatever you wish. That is, [L] FT: Plain Fire Skiller ; ISO Bids of at least 150 pts, paid in Pul or greater runes. The “paid in denominations of” part will logically apply to all items in your tradelist, just like it did with runes, so you’ll only need to put it in once.
    CURRENT PRICES:
ALL items in this version of the Price Guide are based on historical prices for these items: while most of the entries are blank, some have been filled in with values carried forward from the beginning of the last ladder (the beginning of the PGuide, anyway). These few listings should use as a useful place to start your evaluation: if some of them look low today, they’ll probably be reasonably accurate in a week’s time, since more of everything is being found daily.

ALL updated prices will come from information posted in the PGuide thread on the TRADE VALUES BOARD. If you don’t post your pricing information there, it probably won’t make it into the PGuide. PLEASE record your trade info there, at least for a while – once the price guide gets fleshed out again, you can go back to ignoring the TValues thread. Until that time, all we get is this skeleton.
    Suggesting Price Guide Changes:

    If you leave me a post along the lines of "Hey Nolo, you should include Sureshrill Frost" I'll most likely ignore it;

If you leave me a post along the lines of "Hey Nolo, you should include Sureshrill Frost - I just paid 25 points for one" I'll consider it, and I'll put it in if I can verify that there is a prevailing price.

If you leave me a post along the lines of "Hey Nolo, you should include Sureshrill Frost - I just paid 25 points for one, and there are 2 or 3 others that have traded for about that much on the Forum over the past week or two" I'll look for the corroborating trades on the forum, and put the Shurshrill in the PG with no questions asked.
    Trading Tips:
    • If you're selling and a buyer wants a fast close, it's usually a bad deal for you since they're trying to get the item before someone else comes along and outbids them.
    • Be suspicious of offers sent via PM instead of posted in your trade thread; they're most likely lowballs and no one can outbid an offer they can't see.
    • If trading Annis, Gheeds, items between different realms or between ladder and non-ladder, don't be afraid to request a moderator to facilitate the trade.

    Price Guide Notes:
    • This is only a guide, and not a 'final say' on values. You may never find someone willing to trade for a listed price, and you may find someone offering x3-4 times a listed price. It's all a question of supply and demand. Two rules of thumb: 1) If an item has perfect stats, its value can be quite high (see below). 2) Rare items relevant to popular classes and builds (HoZ = Hammerdins, Death's Fathom = Sorceresses) usually are much easier to trade than seldomly used items or extremely common items (junk jewels, Sandstorm Treks, Shakos).
    • Values with a range (ie 1-5 Ists) mean that the price will depend upon the variable stats of the item, or upon the haste of the seller.

    • Most valuable items with perfect stats have are not included in this price guide, since some rich people could MANY TIMES more than the price listed here. It's always best to shop perfect items around a bit, since the price fluctuates greatly depending upon who sees it and how rich they are. For example, a perfect pair of upped Gore Riders recently traded for 14 High Runes. The prices on these sorts of items change every time they trade, and therefore they have no place in this guide.

    • If you have suggestions, criticisms, or a price for an item not listed, please either post them in this thread or PM me. Links to relevant trade threads (if applicable) would also be appreciated.
    • If you have an item not listed here and want an idea about its value, post a Price Check thread in the Trade Values forum. Please don't post price checks in the Price Guide thread. There has been a resurgence on the Trade Values board, and your price checks will often get answered in a day or two..
    • Some items that do not appear in the price guide will sometime trade for significant amounts of runes, often because an advanced player is trying to complete a specific character build. If this happens enough times for a given item, that item will find be included in future Price Guide updates.
    • This Price Guide is intended for use on the www.diabloii.net USEast trade board, and therefore reflects common transaction prices for trades conducted on that board. Trades arranged elsewhere may reflect different prices – but your safest bet is to trade with an established member of the USEast trade board
    • In future updates, new additions and updated prices will be highlighted.
    • Credit and thanks to pncwd and Ryu_Khan for compiling and writing the bulk of this Price Guide! Also, thanks to all of those who posts comments and price values in the thread; keep them coming!

In trading one high rune for another high rune of equal value (say, you’ve got a Ohm FT and you are ISO a Zod) it is commonplace – but not a ‘rule’ – to add 100 pts to your side of the trade. That is, a commonly seen trade looks like [L] FT: Ber + Um; ISO: Lo. These runes are not always traded like this, but if you’re having trouble trading one for another, try offering an extra 100.

It should come as no surprise that the vast majority of ‘High Runes’ are duplicates, and therefore subject to disappearing due to Blizzard security measures. USE THE UTMOST CAUTION WHEN USING THEM IN TRADES. A moderated trade is highly recommended.

    Runewords:

A runeword item’s BASE trade value is what it costs to put together - Adding all the component prices together logically gets you to the value of a mid-range runeword item, with premiums added or discounts subtracted based on the outcome of the variable stats. Do not forget to add in the cost of the socketed item – several of these now cost more than the high runes in the runeword.

Please use this information to obtain a base value for any runeword items you are attempting to evaluate – there are far too many statistical permutations possible to list all possible values is this – or any – price guide.

Here's an excellent note I got via PM - hopefully the market will speak up and tell me what to do, if anything. Don't forget, YOU are the market!

I think it'd be easier for people if 1 PGem = 1 point.

You can quote me publicly if you want, I just sent this in a PM so it wouldn't clutter up the PG thread.

    Thanks for the note, David;

Yes, that's a bit strange - the 40 pgems = 50 pts is merely a rollback to 40=Pul, since I didn't want to tinker with the value (just adopted the one that held for most of the last ladder). The later price level, 40=Um would not yield whole number of points for 1 pgem either.

For this one, I'll let the market - of which you are a part - speak up and tell me what 1 pgem is worth. As soon as people agree on a new value, I'll make the change. There aren't a whole lot of 1-pgem items traded, so that 1 point = 1.25 pgems isn't at unwieldy as it may sound, since the transactions will be taking place at higher numbers & the fractions can be rounded away.

This is an artifact of the old values, assigned by the market, and I didn't think it was a good idea for me to jump in and tinker with the price. I set - manually - 100 pts = Um so that there would be a sensible order to rune/points conversion, and one that would be easy for people to remember: after that decision, I just mapped runes according to their old values. The low runes got flattened out (ie. Ral, Ort, and Tal now have the same point values) but I believe they actually are traded that way, when they are traded.

Thanks again for the comment, and I will cut/paste this into the TVals forum for people to discuss. I hope you'll participate!

    Nolo

The problem with this is that it making 1 pgem = 1 point (or 1.25 points or whatever) is effectively making pgems a common currency.

Pgems make a better currency than most things because they are "consumable" (once you craft or reroll, they are gone forever) but if they are hoarded, or even duped en masse by someone with WAY too much time on their hands, then you are back in the uncomfortable position of bumping up the price of every item instead of bumping one item down.

Notes: Not surprisingly, PTopaz are very highly sought-after. All the MF gear is being ISO'd, but those few that have been found aren't changing hands.

There are some decent runes being offered - Um, Mal, etc. - but still no one cuts loose their decent items, except for a few of the class-oriented Set pieces. In about a week's time, the Uniques will have piled up, and some of these trades will start happenening.

If this thread doesn't receive any pricing info, there's no way to update the price guide...

The ladder seaons is 6 days old, and already there are a number of good items up for trade.

    (Thanks for the sticky, Crazy!)

Seeing how I don't use trade values that much, as I'm not a trader, I can still pull up a few point values if you wish. Most of these trades are done on the game itself, so I can't give much proof:

Most games I have seen trade a Sol Rune for a Shael Rune. Perhaps, if you think about looking, or if I get a screenie on them, I could show you. The main thing is that Shael's used in a MF shield runeword.*

In a related matter, people trade Tal Runes and Ral Runes for Eth Runes, because of the same reason- they're used with Shael for Rhyme.*

Right now, I think you're overpricing Ort. Because not many people have an Ort and a Sol together, not many people think of making Lore, and Sol is also used for Insight, leaving a shortage of Sols. I'd suggest lowering the price of Ort by one point.

Tir, I think you should up by one point in some extreme cases, because Tir's used in Insight, and even Steel a lot of the time, so this could set a small shortage in Tir Runes at some points.

For the 4os GMB bows, from what I see, a +1 is almost worthless, a +2 not truly valuable either, but a +3 would be worth a lot. I would suggest about 25-50 points for a +1, 60-80 for +2, and 400+ for a +3 bow.

If a Fire skiller, base, is worth 150 points, a Coldy is definitely worth about 300. I usually saw people trading Mal-Ist for base ones. But that was last ladder season.

A 5os zerker axe... Hmm... I saw people paying a ton for these, usually Ist up. I would rate this about 300-500 points.

You seemed to WAY overprice HoZs on the last ladder. I have a 179 HoZ I got for just an Um Rune, while in the last days of the ladder. I'd say that:
Non-eth, 150-175ed, clean or no os HoZ= 50-75 points(there's no real reason to pdiamond or um anything below a 170)
Non-eth, 175-190ed, clean, no os, or pdiamond in= 100-125 points at most
Non-eth, 175-190ed, clean, no os, or pdiamond in= 150-200 points
Non-eth, 191-199ed, pdiamond (or possibly um if the person is really desperate) in= 150-175 points
    Non-eth, 200ed, pdiamond in= 200-250 points, maybe more
    Non-eth, 200ed, Um in= 300-350 points, maybe more

Most of the HoZ values may be off by a bit, but looking at the rune trades we had at the last season, and how your rune points tied in with the last PG you made for S2, I am thinking that this may be accurate to a point. The HoZ part might be used better in a month or 2, because any paladin-playing person would probably pay a ton for even a low one right now.

This stuff may not really tie in with current values, but at least when we hit the point where we were at in S2, this stuff may all tie in correctly.

*These marked trades are usually only found in normal games, because most people can do easy nm countess runs later on for these runes. I've gotten a Shael from the Nm countess this ladder, so it is possible.

Not sure but.. According your guide, you could get a Zod for merely 7 Ums? Who'd want to trade that? Dunno on USeast but Highrunes (Vex+) Were worth about 4-6 Ists on Europe, and probably now that high runes are very rare (compared to the ones u can easily get from hell hellforge) even more!

nolo just placed these amounts in based on last season's values....the highest rune i have seen traded was a cubed vex....no one has(or if they do i haven't seen them) high runes like zods up for trade so don't worry about what nolo has listed for these...if a big dupe comes in and hi's are in the marketplace prices will start to fluctuate and then the points can be adjusted.

it is interesting to note that nonperfect items that could not even be traded towards the end of last season are being snatched up right away... demand>supply

nolo....i would give it a few more days before i would even think of an updated list(most trades are item for item with people overpaying to get class specific junk to complete their chars)....many people are just hitting hell now and prices will not be very stable....you could increase the price of sols, shaels, amns if you wanted

hopefully when people are done running their characters into hell they will have some time to contribute pricing info from trades on this forum

How can I even think about updating the list? No one is bothering to leave me any prices. I'll give people until the end of the week, then I'll start trolling for prices by posting OT's on the Trade Board. Well, one OT anyway - I'm not going to test the mods' patience by posting them repeatedly if they don't generate any info.

I'm beginning to think having a guide at all is a useless excercise - no one ever reads what I've got in there, except to look up a price. Half the people don't even do that - they just post PC's. And with me & Axe2Grind not posting, this place is a ghost town - I'm starting to see complaints about it on the trade board. Do you think any of these complainers would LEAVE PC INFO for someone, ever, before they started whining that no one answered theirs?

Oh, and if anyone actually HAD 7 Ums they probably could get a Zod for them.
