heh wow lots of posts here, but yeah i run countless and countless numbers of pit/countess/andy runs.. one after another.. it's fun to me for some reason, even if i dont find anything, and i think its more fun to runeword your items out of your own runes that you find, most satisfying ever, haha
like a few have already posting, its all about crafting and trading
i have bought things for 5hi and sold for 40+ a few times
its all about knowing item values
if u KNOW something is worth 20hi, and u see someone asking for 4hi for their item...BUY IT! if u feel bad like i sometimes do, give them 6hi! it makes them feel GREAT!
then there is crafting which can go both ways, i have crafted 40hi worth of stuff and got nothing, then ive done the same and come out with 150 hi worth
you DO NOT GET RICH MF'ing....PERIOD
i have not had a mf char for over 1yr![]()
i started d2 4 months ago or less, started with a pul from forge and now i have around 200+hrs, the secret to being wealthy is all about timing and making good trades
I have been poor a long, long time. Becoming rich is easy, although it took me several years to understand it. When I really decided to become wealthy, I was able to get several expensive items like Enigma and BotD in less than 2 months on Ladder.
The secret of my late success?
1° 2 sets of cd-keys and many Hellforge rushes (a small patch allows to play 2 chars with 1 PC, opening the road to self-rushing and safe self-muling).
If 2 cd-keys is not possible, Hell Meph, Pit, Baal and Cows are an alternative route, but a longer one
2° a meteorb sorc equipped asap with Tal Rasha (efficient, fast, and affordable)
3° getting to the point without loosing time (stop wandering around, stay focused on your main goal, limit trade offers to most sought-after items, carefully plan future acquisitions without wasting resources on useless items)
4° a bit of luck!
Have fun
its also much easier to become 'rich' on NL than L
There are several stages of Wealth.Originally Posted by SharnMes

Stage 2: You came to the conclusion that Meph runs don't pay off anymore
Stage 3: You have at least 3 runewords containing HRs (Ohm or higher, except Sur)
Stage 4: You trade for HRs without actually needing them
Stage 5: You don't know how many HRs you have
I'm at stage 3
To become rich, try to reach stage 1. It needs just a few days with a dual element sorceress and a little diligence. Do nightmare Meph runs and collect gems in nightmare to buy basic stuff to beat him in hell mode.
I suggest to use a meteorb sorc with full Tal's, Lidless, Magefists, Wartravellers, two Nagelrings and Gheed's charm. That character can do Andy+Meph runs and (with a merc) visit Pindle, Eldritch and all L85 areas. On ladder Europe, you can get the equipment for an Ist rune or 100 pgems. It's worth less, but time is money, so if you have that much wealth, buy that equipment on the spot. During the saved time you will find stuff being worth more than you would have saved on resources. The next step will be obtaining fire skillers, so killing speed will improve. Don't start other characters until your MF sorc is complete.

You know I'm born to lose / and gambling is for fools / but that's the way I like it, baby / I don't want to live forever!
1) yes but where can I learn how to value crafts or rares like thatOriginally Posted by Sh4dovv
2) how do you get wealthy enough to get 6hi
Started ladder reset by making an MF Sorc, went to level 80 or so then Hell Meph runs. After a week I had several Storms, Harles and all the good stuff Meph Could drop. Then I made a Chain Lightning Sorc for Pit leveling. Found some nice "unmephable" items there... It's just about how much time you put into the game. You can't expect to be rich after 10 Meph runs. Try 400 a time like I did.
By selling things for 7 HRs which you bought for one  You have to start on a lower scale, of course.Originally Posted by Joch

It's very easy, and I rather like the process of becoming rich, that process is IMO the funnest part of the game, after you've got everything you could possibly want, the game becomes boring.
