Best Place To Find M'avina's Caster

After a 2 year hiatus from D2, rebuilt a new character - an untwinked, cookie cutter Meteorb. I mostly play single player, but sometimes I enjoy an Open Battlenet game with some friends, one of who plays a Bowazon. I do have an objection to losing my characters just because I don't play for a few months, so I don't play much on Realms.

I've enjoyed most of the changes brought in by the 1.10 patch except the game economy is still warped in my view.

After taking a month to get my untwinked Meteorb through Hell, I've started the end game cycles, Baal reruns, MF runs etc. I'm trying to find some nice items. One of my friends is after M'avina's Caster, for some reason he's not so impressed with the Buriza-Do Kyanon (not sure why).

I've read through some of the excellent Item Generation articles on this site but I don't know how to find the best enemy/difficulty to find a given item. I'm interested in knowing:

1. What is the lowest level enemy (mlvl) that can drop M'avina's Caster - i.e. how early in the game can this elite item drop.
2. Which enemies in which difficulty/area can drop the item.
3. Which enemy in which difficulty/area has the best chance of dropping it.
4. What the probabilities are (if possible). I know this is asking a lot.
5. Is there a utility/tool that can used to work this out.

You can use atma's drop calculator to work this out. Personally I find most of my mav's casters in the WS K / from Baal.

Heh, the obvious answer of someone who has the equipment to effectively running Baal.

Hmm.. I checked from d2data.net. At least nothing in NM can drop the base item, Grand Matron bow, so you're best bet for getting it would be the Superunique monster you can run the fastest, or safest. Something like Shenk or Pindle. Mephisto isn't of course bad at all if you don't mind re-rolling your map a few times to get good enough one.

You don't need any special equipment to run baal effectively. You just need the right build or some skills...

I found it twice in The Pit, Act1, Tamoe Highlands... Hope it helps..

Thanks guys. I've never used the ATMA Drop Calculator before. It is an awesome utility. It seems that you have to be in Hell in order to get M'avina's Caster and your best probability is doing the Act V bosses.

Fortunately, I am able to solo Hell at /players 1 or 2 comfortably and have been concentrating on Baal runs mostly anyway. Much above /players 2 and and my Sorcie's progress starts to slow down and she has to park too many Fire+Cold Immunes. Also my Act2 tank comes off second best to Lister in the Throne Room.

My Sorcie is patiently waiting for the drop of her Arachnid Belt, Harlequin's Crest and the obligatory 2 SOJ's, preferably all in the same run :-) I haven't got the heart to tell her she'll be waiting a long time.

Mephisto is a very bad target for Mavina's Caster, it's one of the rarest items he can drop. (GMBow is from the highest TC he can drop - TC78. He drops from this TC very rarely - according to lower TCs)

High level areas, Act 5 superuniques, lvl 85 areas, Baal are good targets.
BTW - is it for completing the set? Otherwise I think it's not a good weapon at all.
